hen wood was selected as the floor covering for both levels of the Lüke Restaurant at the Embassy Suites Riverwalk Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, Shelly Flooring took advantage of MAPEI’s complete line of products and used Ultrabond ECO ® 995 premium wood-flooring adhesive. “This adhesive worked very well with the wood,” said Project Manager Robert Cadenas. “It bonded well, and there were no hollow spots when we tested it after drying. The moisture-reduction barrier provided by the Ultrabond ECO 995 was an added benefit in terms of protection for this building located on the banks of the river.” The sound-reduction qualities of Ultrabond ECO 995 were also a positive for a wood-flooring installation in a busy restaurant.

is the owner of Rode Bros. Floors in Las Vegas, Nev. Joe has NWFA Craftsman, Vanguard and Ambassador degrees. GENERAL SESSION WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3 | 9-10:45 A.M. | TEXAS BALLROOM C-D What is it that sets one business apart from others within its industry? For Southwest Airlines, it was about building a culture where people come first, and it was a formula for success that launched them from a small regional airline into a major industry leader. Join former Southwest CEO Howard Putnam, who dared to “Think Big” more than 30 years ago, as he applies his experiences in the airline industry to the wood flooring industry. This session is open to all Expo attendees.

AWARDS LUNCHEON THURSDAY, APRIL 4 | NOON-1:45 P.M. | TEXAS BALLROOM C-D As co-hosts of HGTV's popular shows “Kitchen Cousins” and the more-recent “Cousins on Call,” Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri know a thing or two about the construction industry. Join them during our annual Awards Luncheon, where they will talk about wood flooring’s role in design, and then recognize some amazing wood flooring installations as they present this year’s Wood Floor of the Year awards. We’ll also honor Community Service winners, present industry awards, and present NWFA degrees. Anthony and John also will be available for photos and autographs in the Wood Floor of the Year Gallery following the Awards Luncheon. Tickets for the luncheon are available for $25.

CLOSING PARTY THURSDAY, APRIL 5 | 5-7 P.M. | LONGHORN EXHIBIT HALL A-D Last year set the stage for the first Expo Closing Party held on the trade show floor with more than $50,000 worth of prizes given away to Expo attendees, including a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle. This year will end with just as much excitement, and will feature a grand prize kitchen or man cave makeover. The party will feature appetizers and beverages inspired by next year's Expo location: Nashville, Tenn. The Closing Party is open to all registered attendees.
