Bits & Pieces
March 2019 | News for the Safe, Clean, Efficient and Empowered ChP-Associates
Celebrating 45 years at ChP. In May of 1973, Dr. Konrad Eckert announced that the Robert Bosch Corporation had purchased a 120 acre parcel of land in North Charleston, SC. A year later in May of 1974 the plant produced its first product, a diesel in-line „A“-type pump for John Deere. By 1977 Bosch Charleston had over 500 associates. To host the growing production demand, building 101 was extended and a new conveyor system was installed. The 80s were defined by the introduction of additional assembly lines and the launch of new products, specifically from Gasoline Systems. As
production grew, so did Bosch. Buildings 102, 103, 104, 105, and 106 were all built in the 80s and associate numbers exceeded 1,000. The mid to late 90s were characterized by the production of Fuel Injectors, Diesel Pumps, and Anti-Lock Braking systems. In the 2000s, ChP was chosen to develop and produce a new fuel injector, the EV14. It was the first time that Charleston had a project of such a complexity. Since then, we have expanded our product portfolio and are following a path towards driving Bosch Charleston into the future.
