single-source studio
Bring your whole design team together.
At HFA, we unite the expertise of your multi-discipline team of architects, engineers, permitters, and other industry professionals, so you can:
+ Maximize coordination across disciplines
+ Streamline communications and gather feedback earlier
+ Create higher quality documents that can be delivered sooner
Technology + Collaboration
Our collaborative processes are supported by advanced technologies. All disciplines work in the same Revit models, updated in real time, thus allowing the entire team access to detailed project information at different stages before, during, and after construction.
We continue to use and expand on Autodesk BIM 360. The software drastically improves efficiency by allowing the client, project team and other stakeholders to work together on one model in the cloud. It reduces changes later in the project to coordinate and manage project data and designs.
More, Better, Quicker
HFA quickly and efficiently iterates through design changes and options through advanced techology in software and hardware. The client benefits due to frequent communication and difffering views. A collaborated multi-discipline BIM model enables swift moves from one type of visualization service to another while keeping the cost of services low.
HFA, BIM + Revit
Since 2007, HFA has been using Revit on projects. The multi-disciplinary staff at HFA is competent in Revit and training sessions and helpful tips are available to them each week to help refine their skills. This ensures that the teams at HFA will utilize Revit to produce models that are consistent in quality and accuracy. To continue to stay current, some staff members attend conferences such as Autodesk University to learn and apply the latest in the design and construction industry.

EG America
Various Locations
Our partnership with Cumberland Farms (now under the banner of EG America) began in 2013, when our team was brought on to develop and manage its new store prototype rollout. The team at HFA has since provided full architecture and engineering services to help better support the EG America team and this recently included merging the Cumberland Farms prototype with EG America’s branding, in terms of look and feel when it comes to not only Cumberland Farms but other formats, as well.
Our work with EG America has also included a virtual reality tour of the new prototype so our clients could better visualize their customer’s instore experience prior to construction, allowing for real-time updates to the prototype that limited schedule and cost implications.

Alltown Fresh
Various Locations in MA, NH, NY + CT
HFA collaborated with Moseley-Bona to breathe new life into the Alltown Café and Market concept, reinvigorating the design to reflect the fresh, local, organic, and madeto-order offerings that customers have since come to know and expect from Alltown Market. Built to be both aesthetically pleasing and easy to shop, these new and rebranded stores gave off purely New England vibes, thanks to the natural tones of the materials applied throughout and the use of locally available building products. Each location provided the opportunity for the team’s creativity to shine by utilizing interesting, reclaimed materials to give each store its own unique look and feel, while still retaining the same brand recognition that loyal customers know and love.

Seasons
Various Locations
The HFA team was brought in to finish out this project with Seasons, our first collaboration with them. Because we were brought in after the project began, the timeline was expedited, however that didn’t stop our team from getting quickly up to speed on both how the client operates and specific brand guidelines that need to be incorporated in the design and build. Before we came on board, Seasons was working with two separate firms for architecture and engineering services, so the unique benefit we brought to the table was our ability to merge both disciplines under one umbrella, allowing for ideal collaboration and consistent communication with all the different stakeholders working alongside us on this project.

Jiffy Trip
Various Locations in OK
Since 2017, HFA has collaborated on three ground-up projects with Jiffy Trip, in various locations within Oklahoma, with more projects on the boards. Throughout this partnership, opportunities have arisen for our team to lean in further in other areas that we specialize in, such as design and construction. Not only that, but our fueling team has been able to support the fueling needs of Jiffy Trip, which has led to new processes to better serve their needs.
The team at HFA is excited to see what this partnership will hold in the future as Jiffy Trip looks to expand its reach further into Arkansas and the surrounding areas soon.

7-Eleven
Various Locations
Since the beginning of our partnership with 7-Eleven, scaling at a fast pace has always been the goal, so our team worked to develop a new prototype that allowed us to help design and build 1,000 stores in five years, while also applying value engineering principles to keep costs manageable and meeting 7-Eleven’s goal of an overall 25% reduction in energy. Our team also designed a program using BIM technology that provided automated material takeoffs to pre-negotiated vendors for material procurement, facility maintenance, and operations. The full team approach we use to serve our 7-Eleven clients includes not just architecture and engineering services, but also permitting, landscape, irrigation, drainage, site design, and construction administration.
project experience
MAPCO Express
Various Locations in TN + AL
In 2016, our team was approached by a local developer who was a Freddy’s franchisee, to design a multi-tenant development with a Freddy’s restaurant anchoring the development as the end cap.
Our team took the Freddy’s prototype and developed a client-specific Revit prototype design for the client with high-quality construction documents that incorporated their individual design style and elaborate detailing, ultimately avoiding many potential RFIs during the construction process.

Parker’s Kitchen
Various Locations
The HFA team has been working with Parker’s Kitchen on a series of new store builds across various locations—each one ranging from 5,000 to 7,000 square feet. These ground-up convenience stores are designed with both efficiency and brand consistency in mind, and our multi-disciplinary team (Architecture, MEP, Structural, and Fueling Design) is involved from start to finish. With each location assigned a civil engineering partner by the client, our ability to coordinate across firms and disciplines helps streamline delivery and communication. It’s that collaborative, integrated approach that makes this long-term partnership both successful and scalable—no matter the location or timeline.
Fueling Services at HFA
Our fueling team works closely with owners to design a prototype fueling station that is efficient, cost effective and easy to maintain. We also provide UST and AST system design and deliver high-quality construction documents to fuel installers. We stay current with evolving regulations and standard practices as well as equipment changes and upgrades.
HFA designs the underground fuel systems and delivers high quality documents to the contractors. We stay current with maintenance of the prototype as jurisdictional regulations evolve and upgrades to equipment occur.
Fueling systems have been designed for Kum & Go, MAPCO Express, Jiffy Trip, Love’s Travel Centers, 7-Eleven Stores, Sam’s Club, Sam’s Mart, Stripes, and Walmart in over 1,600 projects.
