GERMANY— On Friday 10th 2CM assembly was about a country called Germany. They showed us how to say hello, how are you and how to count up to ten. To say hello you have to say Guten Tag and to say how are you ‘'Wie geht es dir’. Karena 2PM

DANGERS OF ELECTRICITY—

On Wednesday the 5th, 2DR’s Assembly was about electricity.

Most people liked it. I know I did. Michelle was warning her friends about electricity. Michelle was looking after her friends so they don’t get an electric shock. By Aleena and Adryan in 2AH

Egyptians — On the 16th NR performed a lovely assembly about the Egyptians. They had painted their faces to look like Ancient Egyptian people.

They spoke really loudly so their parents and the children at the back of the hall could hear them. They sang a song called ’ the River Nile’ and looked great in their colourful costumes. Reporters Aaliyah and Raahavi 3CS

SIKHISM On the 17th, 4SB did a Wonderful Assembly — On Frifabulous assembly about Guru day 24th June, 3CS put on a great Nanak and the 5Ks. The assembly assembly about onomatopoeia and taught us about Sikhism. They told us about the 5Ks, Kesh (uncut alliteration. They sang two amazing hair), Kara (a steel wrist band), songs, and gave us many examples Kangha (comb), Kacherea of what each of the topics are. For (undershorts) and the Kirpan alliteration they read us a poem called ‘’bitter butter’’ and for onomatopoeia they gave us over twentyWorking Together — On five examples! By Sabah 5CD.

Wednesday 29th 3AW did an excellent assembly all about working together. They did a perfect play full of songs and acting, some of the audience were amazed because all of them did a good job. I think the costumes looked wonderful, on all of the children. We all thought the assembly was fab, and they are definitely ready for year 4. Reporter Bhakti 4SB

Year 6 UKSA Isle of Wight Ships Ahoy On Friday 10th to Monday 13th year 6 went to the Isle of Wight UKSA Centre we had so much fun there.

We did kayaking, windsurfing, dingy-sailing, raft building and a lot more.

We had to wear wetsuits, which were a bit strange.

We also used the indoor swimming pool especially on the last day because it was raining really heavily.

Evening activities were fun, we played rounders and played in a park, had a quiz on the last night and watched a movie.

The accommodation was good, we even had our own ‘rec’ room and the food was lovely. To sum it up, year five if you do go to the Isle of Wight you will have a great time, we did! Reporters Paris and Harriet year 6.

Total Green Awards—On Wednesday 15th June, Nicki, Robert, Mrs French, Amenah, Hamida, Luke, Ben, Joanne, Ilsane, Mohammedali, Trisani, Vivien and Jennika went to a fancy, posh place at London Zoo. We attended the awards as we had made a project about animals in our school, the title was ‘’putting the ark in Preston park’’ and we saw Naomi from Channel 5’s Milkshake and BBC’s Live ‘n’ Deadly. We also saw another famous person Zoe Wanamaker from BBC’s My Family. We were given an award, £500 and we got an awards bag. After, we had the chance to see the Zoo and the new penguin area. DWS TRIP On Wednesday the 15th of June 2011 DWS (day a week school) went on a trip to the Tate Modern. This is an art gallery . We went on a tube and it took us 1 hour to get there! First we went on the millennium bridge. That’s over the River Thames! In the gallery, we would question ourselves. One of the main one is: is this really art? After lunch we had a workshop with a video artist. We had to come up with some questions about the videos we’ve been watching. One time we had to watch a video with only pictures and we had to come up with a soundtrack with only our body . It was a lot of fun !

Finally after the work shop we went to the shop . After we went home, it was a tiring day but a great time! And lots of walking too! By Kousthubha 4SB

MRS SHAH’S RECIPE OF THE MONTH - recipe for Cup Cakes — the recipe used to cook with Lorraine Pascale Ingredients:- 120g plain flour, 140g caster sugar, 1/2 tsp baking powder, a pinch of salt, 40g unsalted butter at room temperature, 120ml whole milk, 1 egg, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, vanilla frosting, hundred and thousands or other sprinkles to decorate, a 12 hole cupcake tray lined with paper cases. For the frosting you need - 250g icing sugar sifted, 80g unsalted butter at room temperature, 25ml whole milk, a couple of drops of vanilla extract. Method: Prepare the oven to 170 degrees C (325 degrees F) Gas mark 3. Put the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and butter in a bowl and beat together until a sandy consistency and everything is combined, add half the milk. Whisk the egg, vanilla and rest of the milk, then add slowly while mixing to cake mix. Spoon into the paper cases filling up to two thirds. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the sponge bounces back when touched.

Leave the cupcakes to cool. To make the frosting beat the icing sugar and butter then add the vanilla and milk slowly continuingly beating for five minutes until light and fluffy. Next spread on the vanilla frosting and decorate with the sprinkles - ENJOY.

Lorraine Pascale — chef. On the 9th Thursday 2011 a small group of children from year 5 went to do some baking with Mrs Shah initially we thought we were just baking but we had another surprise. Emily was the first one to notice Lorraine Pascale (the famous chef from “easy to bake”) walking towards the cooking room. As we were weighing the sugar, she walked in and everyone gasped in astonishment. We were baking cupcakes and Loraine joined in the fun. While the cupcakes were baking we asked her questions about her life. Finally the cupcakes were done and everyone including Lorraine herself tasted them. Afterwards Lorraine signed some autographs and in return we gave her a bunch of lovely flowers. Seaside Workshop On Thursday we had a seaside workshop. At the seaside workshop, we had an adventure to the Victorian times. We all worked in groups to act out what it was like to visit the beach in the past. We made beach huts on the ground and some did it by standing up. After a while we pretended to ride on Donkey’s. Then the girls were pretending to be the girls in the Victorian times. They were standing up straight and pretending to wear to hold parasols. The boys were pretending to wear suits. Later on we also acted out a Punch and Judy show. It was terrific! Reporters Michelle & Archana 2DR

FE FI FO YUM! On Friday 3rd June 2011,some of the PPPS students were on television on a programme called Fee Fi Fo Yum which was shown on the one and only BBC One! We had a fantastically awesome time there filming and taking part in the brilliant game show.

Without a doubt we won and won our freedom while the other team got eaten. Our team was called the Wembley Wonders and our team captain was Disha.

The other team was called the fantastic fire and their team captain was Xzander . We had a fun time competing with them. Hooray! It was an impeccable finish as Shania won at the last minute. Before that we won many rounds as well. We were really excited to be on TV and it was great fun also. We hope other PPPS students get opportunities like this one. By Disha

came to look at the allotment, nature reserve and the chicken’s area. In the allotment there were plenty of vegetables and fruits. Some of the examples are: strawberries, apples, pears and chillies. We showed him some holes that Robert dug and he said that the mud is actually clay. Finally we showed him the chicken’s area and let him look at some eggs from the chicken’s pen. Also we let him look at some of the birds. He was judging us for a competition, London in Bloom, we have also entered into the borough competition Brent in Bloom, hopefully we will do well. Claremont High Plays— Some children from Claremont High School came to our school to do a performance for the year 2 classes. They performed three different plays. The first one was about a new girl that had orange curly hair and the other children made fun of her. When they were friends one girl called Samantha was still not the girls friend and then her teacher told Samantha to say sorry to the new girl and she did and they were friends again.

Then the second play was about Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks. It started off with a fox that was sleeping. While he was sleeping, Little Red Riding Hood took his bag, but then Little Red Riding Hood played a trick on the fox and Goldilocks all because she wanted more attention from everyone. This was a funny play.

The third play was about Cinderella. There was a maid called Cinderella and 2 ugly step sisters who made her do everything. In the story Cinderella there is a Fairy God Mother who helped Cinderella but in this play it was a genie that helped Cinderella. This was a very good play. Reviewers Ibtisam, Lynn and Jenaeya 2CM

Refugee Week took

Work Experience – the current year 6 are leaving soon however before that they were given the chance to work in different places in the school, such as Falak was working in the nursery and Nithila was working in 4KL. “It was fun working in Nursery because the children there are lovable and caring so it was fun looking after them and helping the teacher. Also I have experienced how it is to work and how hard teacher and other members of staff work!” Quote by Falak 6SS. “It was amazing to work with children from year 4 and to experience how amazing it is to be a teacher. I had to help children do their work and to tidy up the class. The children were fantastic and they made my week a special one which I will remember for the rest of my life”. Quote by Nithila 6SS

Run, run run…… Athletics on the 21st we

A review of Lord of the Flies—at the Open Air Theatre in Regents went to Willesden Sports Centre to do athletics. We were very lucky to win one medal, won by Tyra in 6SS. Park on the 16th June There were lots of other schools there. St. Joseph won but we did really well. Reporter Faith 6RC.
