Coming up...

Dear families of Preston Park, I am delighted to be joining Preston Park in September as your new headteacher. It is a privilege to become a part of your school community and I am very proud to have been appointed to this important role. The staff, children and governors have made me feel most welcome and I look forward to building important partnerships with parents next term as we enter exciting times ahead.

Placing the children at the heart of everything that I do, I am a passionate and highly motivated leader striving for the highest standards in all aspects of school performance. Currently the deputy headteacher of Hallfield Primary School, a large multicultural community school in Westminster, I have been instrumental in creating a successful and inclusive, forward-thinking school, recognised within the Local Authority and beyond as having outstanding and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. I have had nine happy and successful years at Hallfield and I am now ready and thrilled to be facing new challenges at Preston Park Primary School.

I look forward to introducing myself fully in September. Until then, have a wonderful summer holiday and well deserved break. Georgina Nutton

Mrs Ozgul Elkiner — is retiring. Ozgul has been with us for 22 years since she started as an SMSA, then working for many years in Nursery and Key Stage 1. Best wishes and you will be missed.

THE 100 % CLUB — the children who had 100 % attendance this year were rewarded to a meal at Pizza Express. Congratulations The Globe Theatre - On Wednesday 13th July, all of

year 5 went on a trip to the Shakespeare Globe Theatre. We took two trains and there were lots of stops. We went from Preston Road Station to London Bridge. When we first got there we had a quick snack in a small room, then we entered the theatre. We watched a play called a Midsummer Night’s Dream but there was only one actor so he used wooden dolls which made it a little more interesting. He was really good and remembered all his lines. He was funny and he did it all by himself, it had many twists and props. On our way back we saw The Shard (a tall glass tower) and the River Thames we also saw Tower Bridge. Finally we walked back to school and talked about how fun the trip was, although a long tiring journey we had a great time and would love to go on a similar trip again – Dennerie and Joanna 5CF Naomi and Maja 5BC

SUMMER FAYRE—The Preston Park Summer Fayre was a great success, we made over £3300. There were lots of games to play and you could prizes with some of them. Food was available in the canteen from all over the world, Romania, Italian, India, America etc. The Summer Fayre is good because we can all come together, relax and enjoy ourselves. Thanks to all the parents who organise it and all the parents and staff that help make it a fun day – Orean, Shani and Alexandra 5SS

You have been a good teacher and are the best teacher we could ever have. We enjoyed making chocolate apples and reading new stories with you. We all hope you have a great time in Dubai and like your new school —all in 1LG

To Mr Worth—sadly you left Preston Park to teach somewhere near your house. We hope you will come back and visit us, as you were the best teacher in the world. Dear Miss Finn – we will

miss you so much. I enjoyed doing art with you and I enjoyed doing maths with you learning about measurement, multiplication etc . You are a wonderful teacher because you always help us. I love when you take us on trips because you always look after us, you always make sure we are safe.

We enjoyed reading Oliver and the Sea-wigs with you and making mosaics. We wish you the best for the future and will always remember you. You are the best – Dayna, Adit and all of 3DB

5SS would like to say a few words to thank Mrs Saad for being with us throughout the school year. Thank you for teaching us and helping us learn about a variety of topics. Mrs Saad has been my group teacher for many different trips and has inspired us very much. Mrs Saad has organised many fun weeks for our class especially Science week which was amazing. She has also gave us chocolate cookies for working hard in Literacy.

It is incredibly sad that she is leaving because she helped us achieve higher levels. I have mastered in all topics thanks to her excellent, impressive teaching. We will miss you very much but will always remember you. The favourite topic you have taught is art when making the Pandora's Boxes.

The one of a kind Mr Spence was the most amazing person to support me and every other child in Year 6, he helps me to keep control and he has played a big roll in my school life and he is a brilliant role model. He has many talents and knows everything to know about me and the other children in the school, it’s going to be very difficult without seeing him. He is very caring and he listens Mrs Ahmadi — Good Luck to me, and also helps me avoid hard situations as well as being supporin your new job and we look tive because everyone in the school can turn to him for advice. Miss Lynam

Dear Miss Corrigan—you are the best teacher in year 3. We will miss you so much and it will be very isolating without you. Coach Kam has been an amazing PE teacher at this school. He has helped us to become fit and helped us to work together. He has taught us running, some sports games and some adventure courses, it has been really good with him around we will all miss him very much and hope he will Goodbye to Miss Yearwood, still teach PE where ever he goes. He although she is not leaving us but she is changing her name to Mrs Mills has taught us how to work our bodies as she will be getting married during and to keep healthy he is one of the best the Summer Holidays. Goodbye Year 6, Good Luck in your secondary schools

To my lovely 6HJ, I cannot believe that it is already time to say goodbye. We have had a great year together and it is difficult to part ways so soon. I have been completely honoured and felt privileged to be your class teacher this year. You have worked incredibly hard for your SATs and your dedication and perseverance this year has been inspirational. When you first came in to Year 6 you all thought you would never make it to the end. Look at you now. You have made it. You have got through the year and have flourished in to mature young men and ladies. I am so, so proud of you all. Your kind support for one another, your ability to fight through the nervousness before your SATs and your commitment to reaching your full potential, has moved me. I have always told you to push to be the best you can, and you have. I admire your courage and strength and have no doubt that you will continue grow into wonderful and talented young adults. You are a special class and I will never forget you and the many times you made me smile and laugh. I will, of course, continue to blush, be clumsy and repeatedly tie my hair up and down, things which you reminded me of on a daily basis! Always remember how amazing each one of you is and that you have so much to offer. Go and show the world just how brilliant I know you are. I will miss you dearly 6HJ, class of 2016. All the best, Miss Judge To the wonderful children of 6RO, What can I say? It has been an honour teaching you for the last half of the year and preparing you for life beyond Preston Park. There have been challenges along the way, most notably the SATs, but you rose to the task admirably and the results are a testament to your hard work and commitment to learning. There have also been plenty of fun times, providing memories to last a lifetime: all of the shows that you have participated in, trips and the Isle of Wight.

I hope that as you go through life, you will remember the lessons that you learnt here; not the ones about subordinating conjunctions or how to multiply fractions, but how to remain true to your beliefs, to stand up against injustice, to strive for excellence and above all, to believe in yourself. You can achieve great things- each and every one of you has qualities which will allow you to grow into mature, kind and well rounded adults and I hope that you all have a wonderful, safe and happy summer and I will be thinking of you all in September as you face the next exciting stage in your lives. I can't believe it's the end of the year already! You were a great class of to teach, and I am really sad that I didn't get to finish off the year with you. In the few months we had together, I saw you all begin to grow and become more aware of how your actions affect others. I hope that you continued that after I left and I hope you continue it into the future. Thank you so much for looking after me while I was pregnant, I couldn't have asked for a more caring bunch of children. Good luck in your futures, and I really hope I get to see you all, when I'm back in the winter. Miss Obiago :)

To dear 6EF, How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard?

I cannot believe that the time has come to write you this message. It feels like only yesterday that we were sitting together on transition day making plans for the year ahead. And what a year it’s been! As you look back over your time in Year Six, I’m sure that your SATs (and all of the hard work that you have put in) will be a massive focal point for all of you. Each and every one of you should be incredibly proud of yourselves for what you have achieved this year. I have found your dedication, perseverance and determination to do well to be truly remarkable. You have all made so much progress and I feel honoured to have been able to support you. From the bottom of my heart, I couldn’t be prouder of you.

Although your academic achievements this year have been outstanding, there is something very important that you should remember. These tests do not assess what makes each of you the extraordinary, unique and talented individuals that I have come to know you as over the past year. They don’t recognise your sporting prowess, your ability to own the stage while you’re dancing, your beautiful singing voices or your ability to make people laugh. They don’t know you as the kind, caring, vivacious, entertaining and crazy bunch that I have taught over the past year! You are so much more than a pass or a fail in a set of test papers.

Please remember that.

As my very first class, I want you to know that I will never ever forget you. You have meant more to me than you probably even realise and you will always have a very special place in my heart. As you take your next steps, I want you to remember how special you are, stay true to yourselves and carry on being the incredible pupils I know you to be. I have no doubts that you will continue to flourish and that you will all go on to be successful in your own ways. If you work hard, never give up and believe in yourselves, there is no limit to what you can achieve. Remember – ‘Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go. Only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.’ Although it breaks my heart to say goodbye to you, I wish you all the luck and love in the world for the future – my little pickles deserve only the very best. Preston Park’s Got Talent

On Thursday evening of the 7th an amazing show was put on to showcase the talent in the school from musicians to dancers to singers. Our judges were Mrs R Patel Mrs Roopal Patel (PSA), and Mr Ryan, with Miss Currie presenting the acts.

They were impressed and the parents who came to watch very much enjoyed the show. It was repeated again for the rest of the school last Thursday. Some of our amazing staff performed a tribute act to the Spice Girls. The talented act that won was ‘the Dancing Duo’, who enjoyed a winner’s lunch at Pizza Express.

VICTORY FOR 5CF On Friday 8th July, we had sports day. This fun filled event was held in the Park across the road. Some of us were luckily chosen by Miss Faiz-Mahdavi to help all of the coaches. Key Stage 2 had sports day in the morning and Key Stage 1 in the afternoon. Many events took place activities like 25, 50 and 75 meters sprint, egg and spoon race and a marathon and a sack race. Everyone enjoyed the day, including the teachers and coaches. 5CF was extremely happy at the end with many wins gaining, bronze, silver and gold medals in the class Keya, Miam Amin and Tobi 5CF

CHOIR—On Wednesday 6th July, the school choir was invited to take part in the Brent makes music concert at Wembley Arena.

(We had to bring packed lunch and we left after lunchtime). We had to travel by train to Wembley. Then we had to walk for a few minutes till we reached our destination. We reached there at about 3:30. As we walked inside the colossal building we saw that there was another 10 school choirs taking part as well. As we all took a seat we practiced for 4 hours. I mean... how tiring! After that we had our packed lunch for 30 minutes. Then... the real show began! There was over 100 parents watching the choirs, the flute choirs, the bands and the orchestra! We were so exhausted as it finished at 10:00! Our parents picked us up and we went home. A special thanks to; Mrs Joslin, Miss Currie, Miss Vesey and the BMS staff! By Tiah and Amy 4CJ
