3.4 Introduction
Operational readiness and the service life of machines are heavily dependent on maintenance. Before carrying out service and maintenance work, always read, understand and follow the instructions given in • Chapter 2 “SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS” in the Operator's Manual • The Operator's Manuals of the attachments. Secure open (engine) covers appropriately. Do not open (engine) covers on slopes or in strong wind. Dirt can be blown away and cause severe injuries when using compressed air. Always wear protective goggles, masks and clothing. Daily service and maintenance work, and maintenance according to maintenance plan “A” must be carried out by a specifically trained driver. All other maintenance work must be carried out by trained and qualified staff only. The maintenance plans indicate when the maintenance work mentioned below must be carried out (– see Maintenance plan (overview) on page 3-5).
