Removal and Installation of Counterweight
Caution ・ Be sure to stop the engine before beginning work. ・ Be sure to inspect the wire rope and other lifting equipment before beginning work. ・ Do not stand or pass under the suspended load. ・ Thoroughly secure the removed counterweight with the wire ropes and liftcrane so that it does not fall over.
Items to prepare •Box wrench (65 mm) •Balance lifting device •Shackles (with the required lifting capacity) × 4 •Wire ropes (with the required breaking load) × 4 •Liftcrane (with the required lifting capacity) •Wood planks, etc. •Rag •Cleaning fluid 1.Removal of counterweight [1] Connect the hooks (1) to the shackles (2), and then use the wire ropes (3) and liftcrane to secure the counterweight so that it does not fall during removal and installation operations.
[2] Use a box wrench (65 mm) to remove the 4 bolts (4) and washers (5) on the counterweight.
[3] Use the wire ropes and liftcrane to lift and remove the counterweight. •Move the counterweight about 50 cm to the rear while lifting it so that it does not interfere with the housing, engine parts and pipes.
[4] Thoroughly check that the location is safe before lowering the counterweight on wood planks (8). •Thoroughly secure the counterweight with the wire ropes and liftcrane so that it does not fall over.
2.Installation of counterweight
Perform the reverse of the removal procedure.
The tightening torque for the counterweight bolts is 2256 - 2550 N•m.
Do not apply oil, etc. to the bolts.
3.Removal of counterweight (cylinder type) [1] Move the machine to a flat location on solid ground and check that there are no obstacles under the counterweight. [2] Lower the attachment (1) to the ground. [3] Open the under cover (under the engine) and remove the 2 bolts from the bottom of the counterweight (2). [4] Open the engine hood (3), and remove the bolts from the top of the counterweight. When this is complete, close the engine hood.
[5] Open the stop valve (4) for counterweight removal and installation inside the right housing. [6] Turn "ON" the counterweight removal and installation switch (5) inside the right housing.
[7] Operate the counterweight position switch to lower the counterweight to where the gap is about 180 mm between the counterweight bottom surface and the platform bottom surface. [8] Operate the arm position switch to lower the counterweight (2) to the ground.
[9] Remove the pin (7) securing the bracket (6) and wire rope.
[10]Operate the counterweight position switch to move the counterweight cylinder (8) to its maximum retracted length. [11]Install the pin (7) removed in [9] back on the bracket (6) from the opposite side. [12]Operate the arm position sensor to lower the arm to until the arm (9) end section contacts the swing frame rear plate (10).
[13]Turn the main switch "OFF". [14]Close the counterweight removal and installation stop valve. [15]Close the under cover (under the engine).
4.Counterweight (cylinder type) installation [1] Move the machine and the counterweight (2) to a flat location on solid ground. [2] Make the machine travel slowly and move to where the gap is about 630 mm between the counterweight side installation surface and the swing frame side installation surface. [3] Lower the attachment (1) to the ground.
[4] Open the stop valve (4) for counterweight removal and installation inside the right housing. [5] Turn "ON" the main switch of the counterweight removal and installation switch (5) inside the right housing.
[6] Operate the arm position switch to lower the arm (9). [7] Remove the pin (7) installed on the bracket (6). [8] Operate the counterweight switch to move the counterweight cylinder (8) to its maximum extended length. [9] Install the wire rope and bracket (6) with the pin (7) removed in [7]. •Insert the pin from the counterweight installation surface.
[10]Operate the arm position switch to raise the arm to until the arm (9) end section contacts the swing frame rear plate (10). [11]Operate the counterweight switch to lower the counterweight (2) to where the counterweight hanger section meshes with the swing frame link (11).
[12]Remove the under cover (under the engine) and install the 2 bolts on the bottom of the counterweight (2). [13]Open the engine hood and install the 2 bolts on the top of the counterweight. When this is complete, close the engine hood (3). [14]Tighten the counterweight bolts.
Tightening torque: 2256 - 2550 N•m
[15]Turn the main switch "OFF". [16]Close the counterweight removal and installation stop valve. [17]Install the under cover (under the engine).
This completes the work.
