Safety Rules

Safety Rules

• Do not place your hands between the control handle (1) and the control handle bracket (3).

• Do not place your hands between the top cap (4) and the top nut (5).

Handling The Load WARNING !

Always wear appropriate safety apparel, such as safety shoes, safety glasses, and heavy-duty gloves when working with a hand pallet lift truck. Never ride on the hand pallet lift truck. The hand pallet lift truck is used only to transport loads. To avoid injury, do the following: (For location of numb ered callouts, see Figure3. )

• Make sure that there are no conditions in the hydraulic system that may cause accidental lowering.

• Before lowering, make sure the area beneath the forks is clear.

• Always keep your hands on the control handle.

Model LCS80High Capacity Hand Pallet Truck

•Use extreme care when cornering. If operating at too high a speed, the load could fall from the hand pallet lift truck.

Parking the Hand P allet Lift Truck

When parking the hand pallet lift truck, follow these instructions:

•Make sure that the fork frame is fully lowered.

• Never park on an incline or with a raised load.

• Never park in areas that could obstruct other traffic or work areas.

• Never park in areas that could cause personal injury or damage to any equipment.

Table 1. Legend for Figure 3, The Hand Pallet Lift Truck

L Obey these rules when handling a load:

•Handle only loads that are within the hand pallet lift truck’s permitted lifting capacity.

Parking the Hand Pallet Lift Truck

•Handle only loads that are stable, evenly distributed on the forks, and safely arranged.

•Use caution when handling long and high loads. Load support is recommended for high loads.

•Loaded or unloaded, operate the hand pallet lift truck with great care. Overturning can occur, particularly when handling high loads or when operating with a hand pallet lift truck fitted with a load support or an extension frame in the raised position.

4.Adjust the eyebolts (Item 9). Turn counterclockwise to raise the fork tips and clockwise to lower the fork tips.

5.Replace pin (Item 5) through the eyebolt and replace split pin (Item 6).

6.When adjusted properly, the top of the forks should be 3-1/4 in. (82.5 mm) from ground level when in the lowered position.

Hydraulic System

Your hydraulic system is maintenance free. Do not add hydraulic oil unless there is, or has been, a leak. Use Premium HVI hydraulic oil or equal. Other oils, fluids, or solvents may damage your hydraulic system. If you suspect additional oil is required, follow these steps:

1.Check for and fix any possible oil leaks.

2.Lower the truck and load with 600 lbs. (approximate).

3.Pump the truck to its maximum lift height.

Maintenance Lubrication

All pivot points are equipped with permanently lubricated bushings and bearings. To increase bearing life, it is recomm ended that a few drops of light machine oil be applied at each pivot point every 6 months. The thrust plate is equipped with three grease fittings. Apply grease under normal conditions every 6 months. Push Bar Linkage Adjustment

If the forks do not rise evenly at the tips, or the roller levers begin to drag on th e floor, adjust following these steps:

1.Turn the hand pallet truck over so that the underside of the forks are accessible. Refer to Figure5 on page26 .

2.Remove one split pin (Item 6) with a 3/16 in. punch.

3.Remove pin (Item 5) from the bracket.

4.Reinstall screw (Item 22 ) but do not tighten. Leave a 1/32 in. gap.

5.Pull up on the release lever (Item 3) and collapse the lift piston until oil starts to ooze from the screw.

Caution

It is extremely important that step 5 is performed. Otherwise, air in the pump can force out the wiper seal (Item 28). Take care when adding oil not to introduce impurities into the hydraulic system.

6.Tighten the screw (Item 22) fully and turn the truck upright.

4.Measure the vertical height of the exposed piston (Item 27, Figure4 ) and refer to the chart below.

Adding Oil (If Required)

1.Place and secure the truck on its right side (release valve facing the floor). Refer to Figure4 on page22 .

2.Pull up on the release lever (Item 3) and extend the lift piston fully.

3.Remove screw (Item 22) and add the amount of oil determined by the chart in step 4.
