2.2.1 Engine side and cylinder designations

Engine sides are always designated as viewed from the driving end (KS) (4). For designation of the cylinders (to DIN ISO 1204) the letter "A" (1) is used to refer to the cylinders on the left-hand side of the engine and the letter "B" (3) to refer to the cylinders on the right-hand side. The cylinders of each bank are numbered consecutively, starting with No. 1 at the driving end. The numbering of other engine components also starts with no. 1 at the driving end.
