Refuelling buses with filler valve in the engine compartment
Danger.
The vehicle is not suitable for operation on autogas (LPG, liquefied petroleum gas).
Caution:
Only ever fill the gas tank with natural gas (CNG).
Caution:
Use filler couplings approved for compressed natural gas (CNG). Do not use any type of adapter.
Danger.
In the absence of an odouriser, natural gas has no discernible odour. Only ever refuel using dry natural gas mixed with an odouriser.
Caution:
Natural gas is highly flammable and forms an explosive mix when combined with air. Smoking, fire, flying sparks and naked flames could cause an explosion.
Danger.
Refrain from smoking and eliminate all possibility of fire, creation of sparks and naked flames in the vicinity of the vehicle. This especially applies in the following environments: Filling station, engine compartment, compressed-gas reservoirs, bus depot and workshop.
Danger.
In high concentrations, natural gas causes drowsiness and asphyxiation due to the displacement of oxygen. Change out of all clothing penetrated by the gas, and air it well. Ensure adequate ventilation in enclosed spaces.
Danger.
The compressed-gas system is highly pressurised. The pressure is maintained in the line system of the compressedgas system even after the engine has been switched off. Improper tampering with the compressed-gas system and the compressed-gas reservoirs could result in an escape of natural gas and thus cause injuries such as frostbite.
Observe the general information on refuelling.

Open the engine compartment flap, remove sealing cap (2) from filler valve (3).
Note:
Due to variations in how the coupling is operated, the refuelling procedure may differ from filling station to filling station. Observe the general safety precautions on-site at the filling station concerned. Once started, the refuelling process runs and ends automatically. Operation
Note:
Before the refuelling coupling of the filler hose is attached, check filler valve (3) for damage and contamination.
Note:
The current system pressure of the compressed-gas reservoirs can be seen on pressure gauge (4).

Operate the shut-off valve in the engine compartment. (option).
Note:
Depending on the country sales code, there may be a shut-off valve in the engine compartment. This interrupts the supply of fuel to the engine when lever (1) is operated.
Lever (1) in position (A), fuel supply to the engine compartment closed. Lever (1) in position (B), fuel supply to the engine compartment open.
