<Remove of the gear case (RH) ASSY> coupling shaft cover joint shaft universal joint

1. Remove the blades.

2. Remove the spring pin of the universal joint.

3. Remove the universal joint.

4. Remove the shaft cover.

5. Shift the snap ring both LH and RH (40) to inside, and shift the coupling (39) to remove the joint shaft.

<Disassemble of the gear case (RH) ASSY>

6. Remove the 4 piaces of nut (22) and 4 piaces of SW (21), take off the gear case from the mower deck.

7. Remove the level plug and oil filter plug (2) and drain oil.

8. Remove the oil seal (9) and remove the snap ring (8).

9. Fix the spline of the shaft (5) by a vise with copper plate, pull out the shaft from the gear case.

10. Remove the bearing (7), from the shaft (5).

11. Loosen the 4 piaces of bolts (20), take off blade metal (10).

12. Take out the bevel gear (3).

13. Remove the bevel gear (4) from the shaft (11).

14. Remove the snap ring (13).

15. Remove the oil seal (16), remove the snap ring (15).

16. Take out the shaft (11) with hitting it.

17. Remove the bearings (12, 14) from the shaft (11) and blade metal (10).

3. BACKLASH ADJUSTMENT

a. Prepare the jig as show in the drawing to measure the backlash at R25 mm of the output shaft.

SCMA48 & 54SMM54 b. Reassemble the gear box assembly and place it sideways and lock the input shaft in order to prevent it from turning. (the input shaft has a splined end.) c. Install the jig on the output shaft end. d. Measure the backlash at 25 mm radius circumferenec and correct it if required by shimming. Standard valus: 0.3-0.5 mm (including spline play between respective bevel gear and shaft)
