Two-stage swing-away lattice extension 3.6 Description of rigging work

Connections on lattice extension

The two parts of the lattice extension are connected at the pivot point of the two-stage swing-away lattice extension.

The connection must be made: –for transportation, –for installation and removal, –when unrigging the 13 m (43 ft) swing-away lattice extension, –when rigging the 22 m (72 ft) two-stage swing-away lattice extension.

The connection must be disconnected: – for rigging the 13 m (43 ft) swing-away lattice extension, –when only the 12.5 m (41 ft) section needs to be folded on the side of the main boom for transportation.

GRisk of accidents from the 12.5 m (41 ft) section slipping!

If you have disconnected the connection when rigging the 13 m (43 ft) swing-away lattice extension, make sure you re-establish the connection during unrigging. Only then is the 12.5 m (41 ft) section secured against slipping.

This prevents the 12.5 m (41 ft) section slipping or falling off during transportation or main boom operation.

Making connection

• Remove the retaining pin, take the swivel pin out of the holder (3) and insert it in the bearing point (2) for swinging.

• Remove the retaining pin, take a securing pin out of the retaining sheet ( 4) and insert it in the bearing point (1) for swinging and operation.

• Secure both pins with retaining pins.

Disconnecting connection

• Remove the retaining pins and take both pins out of the bearing points (1) and (2).

• Insert the swivel pin in the holder (3) and the securing pin in the retaining sheet (4).

• Secure the two pins using retaining pins.

3.6.6 Pin connections for working with the lattice extension

If you have swung the lattice extension in front of the main boom head when rigging or before you are able to swing it onto the main boom during unrigging you must make or disconnect different connections, depending on the rigged lattice extension.

If you have swung the 13 m (43 ft) swing-away lattice extension in front of the main boom head, you must make all connections on the main boom head or, when unrigging, disconnect them.

If you have swung the 22 m (72 ft) two-stage swing-away lattice extension in front of the main boom head, you must also make connections on the two-stage swing-away lattice extension or, when unrigging, disconnect them.

The connections are made with pins on the bearing points. The pins are inserted in holders on the lattice extension and are secured with retaining pins.

GRisk of accidents due to falling parts!

Always secure the pins both in the bearing points and in the holders using retaining pins. This prevents unlocked pins from becoming loose, falling out and causing injuries.

Relieving the load on bearing points

3.6 Description of rigging work

The dead weight of the lattice extension can lead to the bearing points on the left side not being aligned or the pins becoming under load and not being able to be knocked out.

This affects the connections between the main boom head and the 12.5 m (41 ft) section or between the 12.5 m (41 ft) section and the 9 m (30 ft) section.

When making or disconnecting the connections proceed as follows:

• Override the lifting limit switch and lower the lattice extension until it is on the ground with the supports (1).

• Continue to lower until the bearing points (2) align or until the load has been removed from the pins; à Derricking lattice extension , p.3-75.

Connections on the main boom head

If the bearing points for locking do not align or the pins can not be knocked out, the load must be removed from the bearing points; p. 3-53.

If the 13 m (43 ft) swing-away lattice extension or the 22 m (72 ft) two-stage swing-away lattice extension is swung in front of the main boom head, the foot section of the 12.5 m (41 ft) section is locked on both sides of the main boom head with two pins on both sides.

Locking 12.5 m (41 ft) section in front of the main boom head

The securing pins for this connection are in the holders (1) on the foot of the 12.5 m (41 ft) section and are secured with retaining pins.

• First insert the two pins (3) and (6) on the right side into the bearing points.

• Then insert the two other pins (2) and (7) into the bearing points on the left side (if necessary derrick the lattice extension to align the bearing points).

• Secure all the pins with retaining pins.

H

The swivel pins (4) and (5) remain inserted for working with the lattice extension. Removing locking pins between 12.5 m (41 ft) section and main boom head

• First release the pins on the left side and then knock them out of the bearing points (2) and (7) (if necessary derrick the lattice extension to relieve the load on the pins).

• Then release the pins (3) and (6) on the right side and knock them out of the bearing points.

• Insert all pins in the holders (1) and secure the pins with retaining pins.

H Insert the swivel pins (4) and (5) into the bearing points.

3.6 Description of rigging work

Connections on lattice extension

If the bearing points for locking do not align or the pins can not be knocked out, the load must be removed from the bearing points; p. 3-53.

If the 9 m (30 ft) section is swung in front of the 12.5 m (41 ft) section when rigging the 22 m (72 ft) two-stage swing-away lattice extension, it must be locked on the head of the 12.5 m (41 ft) section.

The securing pins for this connection are all in the retaining sheet (1) on the foot of the 9 m (30 ft) section and are secured with retaining pins.

A securing pin (2) has already been inserted for the swinging connection.
