The drive axle inspection and service plug openings are shown by Figure 24925.

1 Fill/oil level dipstick plug 2 Drain plug 3 Vent 4 Inspection/fill plug 5 Brake inspection plugs

Check DRIVE AXLE FLUID LEVEL with truck on flat level surface.

Remove fluid level plug at lower front of axle center housing. Check condition of fluid. Change or add recommended fluid as specified in GROUP 01, Section 1 Lubrication Charts in this manual.

Check DRIVE AXLE VENT. Vent must be open at all times. NOTE: Vent is located on top front center of drive motor adapter (differential pinion bearing carrier) on drive axle assembly. Refer to Figure 24925.

Remove blocking if used, from upright and carriage. Lower lift carriage to the floor. Fig. 24925

Inspect tilt cylinder mounts for secur- ity, and hydraulic connections for leaks.

Check tilt cylinder yokes for security of mounting.

Check tilt cylinder piston rods for nicks and scoring.

Check parking brake cylinder mount for security. Be sure that retainer pin, on the under side of the mount, is in place. Also check connections for leaks. Fig. 22202

Check parking brake cylinder piston rod for nicks and scoring.

At lower end of steering column, check priority valve on steering unit and steering hydraulic connections for leaks.
