3 Safety

3.1 Basic safety instructions

3.1.1 General safety information

•The operator's manual and the information contained therein must be read and observed to avert hazards to all people who operate, maintain, service or check this machine. •In particular, read the "Safety " and "Before initial operation" sections. •Before starting work, familiarise yourself with all the controls and instruments and their functions.

3.1.2 Proper use

•The machine is designed exclusively for normal use in agricultural work (proper use). •The machine is suited and intended for processing forage crops that are cut and lying on the ground. •Any use going beyond this shall not be considered proper; the manufacturer shall not be held liable for damage resulting from improper use; the user alone shall bear the risk for this. •Proper use also includes observing the operating, service and repair requirements prescribed by the manufacturer. •The machine must be used, maintained and serviced only by people who are familiarised with it and instructed regarding the dangers. •The relevant accident prevention measures and the other generally accepted safety technology, occupational health and traffic regulations must be observed. •Unauthorised changes to the machine void any liability on the part of the manufacturer for damages resulting from such changes.

3.1.3 Directives, statutes and standards

•In addition to the instructions in this manual, observe the general safety and accident prevention regulations. •When driving on public streets, observe the applicable regulations and provisions! •On public streets and roads, the machine must always be in transport position. •Every time the machine is put into operation, check it and the tractor regarding traffic and operational safety.
