2-2-16. Battery voltage calibration
from Caterpillar EP13TCB(J) EP15TCB(J) EP16 18 20TCB(J) EP16 18 20TBCB(J) Controller Service Manual - PDF
When you replace the EPS controller, you need to calibrate battery voltage in order to correctly activate the battery indicator.
<Preparation>
Open the battery cover and set the digital tester to measure battery voltage.
Apply the positive (+) probe to the positive terminal of the battery.
Apply the negative (-) probe to the negative terminal of the battery. When calibrating, the battery needs to be fully charged, so specific gravity of battery electrolyte should be over 1.25 at 20°C.
<How to calibrate voltage>
1. Set the rotary switch (RS) on the EPS controller to "A". 2. Turn on the key switch. The following screen appears.
Battery voltage setting screen
Battery Voltage (flashes)

3. Set the voltage to the same value as the actual battery voltage measured by the tester.
Press button to increase the value. Press button to decrease the value.
NOTE The allowable variance is within ± 0.1 V.
