BRAKE HEADS

The brake head units are located behind each wheel.

The brakes are released by supplying oil from the brake valve at a pressure of 1550 psi. This pressure is shown in the operator’s compartment on the brake head pressure gauge. Pressurised oil is supplied to the brake heads via the brake; this oil exerts pressure against the springs by means of a piston in the brake heads.

When the brake is applied oil is dumped back to tank and the springs in the brake head force the pressure plate against the fiction disc thus applying the brakes.
