Breaker and breaker power unit assembly

The breaker and breaker power unit (Fig. 38) are assembled so that they can be installed and removed as a unit or as separate assemblies.

There is an under speed sensor mounted on the right hand end of the breaker shaft that will shutdown the breaker drive motor in the event that breaker shaft slows below a preset speed.

NOTICE! In the event that a sudden jam occurs which could damage the gear reducer, the breaker is protected by a friction disc clutch (torque limiting).

Breaker assembly

The breaker assembly (Fig. 39) on the machine has a 32”(813 mm) pick circle with a 5 point star arrangement. It has a 10”(254 mm) shaft diameter turned down to 8”(203 mm) thru the bearings.

The breaker power unit (Fig. 40) drives the pick breaker. It consists of a 150 HP electric motor coupled to a reducer. The power unit has been assembled as a unit and can be removed as a unit or as individual components (see Replacement of wear parts section of this chapter).
