Starting And Stopping The Engines
Starting the engine
Start and operate combustion engines only on well-ventilated premises;
In closed rooms, exhaust gases must be evacuated to the outside.
Do not work on the exhaust system an do not make any modifications to it;
Exhaust gases from diesel engines and some of their constituents may cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm.
" Press button (61). Release button (61) as soon as the engine has fired.
Allow engine to run at idling for at least 5 minutes before running it at full load
Repeat the starting procedure if the engine does not fire. Repeat starting procedure not more often than 3 to 4 times. Do not operate the starter for more than 10 seconds.
Shut off engine immediately :
! if the monitoring device (131, Fig. 2-40:) shows a malfunction of the engine after starting,
! if an acoustic warning sounds from the warning device (134) and / or if the warning lamp
! hydraulic system (135)
! alternator (142) lits up.
Locate cause of the fault and rectify before restarting the engine.
" Turn speed control knob (66, Fig. 2-39:) counter-clockwise to the limit stop (idling).
" Insert key into key-switch (32) and turn right.
