OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 6030, 6030FS Operation

Superstructure holding brake

The excavator is equipped with two superstructure holding brakes which are integrated in the slewing gearboxes. The superstructure holding brakes lock the superstructure with respect to the undercarriage.

The gearbox brakes are holding brakes. Do not press the button unless the superstructure is stationary. Do not use this button while the superstructure is still in motion. Risk of damage to the brakes and the slewing gears.

Apply the holding brake:

 when the excavator is parked,

 when travelling longer distances.

 To apply the holding brakes, press switch (61, Fig. 2-115:).

Track parking brake

The excavator is equipped with 4 travelling gear brakes which are integrated in the travel drives. The travelling gear brakes are parking brakes relieving the hydrostatic drives when the excavator is working and protecting the excavator from rolling forwards or backwards.

The brakes are operated by means of the travel pedals (113 and 112, Fig. 2-116:). In neutral position of the travel pedals the brakes are applied and the excavator is locked. During travelling, the brakes are released automatically.

The travelling gear brakes can also be applied with switch (63, Fig. 2-115:).

Actuate this switch only when the excavator is stationary. Do not use this switch while the excavator is still in motion. Risk of damage to the brakes and the travel gearboxes.

Switch (63) not actuated:

The parking brake is applied automatically ca. 5 secs after the excavator has stopped moving. The parking brake is released automatically when the "Travel" function is activated.

Press the switch face with the symbol (63): The parking brake is applied permanently. The excavator cannot be moved.
