Starting And Stopping The Engines

Starting the engines

Exhaust gases from diesel engines and some of their constituents may cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm.

Start and operate combustion engines only on well-ventilated premises. In closed rooms, exhaust gases must be evacuated to the outside. Do not work on the exhaust system an do not make any modifications to it.

All control levers and pedals must be in position "0".

Pull out all emergency shut-off switches.

Pull out both switches for the battery main switch.

Start the engines one after another.

 Switch on the electrical system with key-switch (32).

Warning lamps (44 – 47, Fig. 2-92:) and (54 –57, Fig. 2-93:) light up.

 Press button (41, Fig. 2-92:) to start the lefthand engine. Release button (41) as soon as the engine has fired.

Warning lamps (44 – 47) go out.

 Press button (51, Fig. 2-93:) to start the righthand engine. Release button (51) as soon as the engine has fired.

Warning lamps (54 – 57) go out.
