VEHICLE ID E N TIFIC A TIO N NUMBER AND RATING PLATE

A com bination vehicle identification num ber and rating plate used on all models (fig. 1) is located on the left door pillar.

The vehicle identification num ber stamped on the plate decodes into the inform ation shown in Figure 2.

ENGINE NUMBER

The engine num ber indicates m anufacturing plant, m onth and day of m anufacture, and transmission type. A typical engine num ber would be F1210FA , which would breakdown thus:

U N IT AND SERIAL NUMBER LOCATIONS

For the convenience o f service technicians and engineers when writing up certain business papers such as Warranty Reports, Product Inform ation R eports, or reporting product failures in any way, the location of the various unit numbers have been indicated. These unit num bers and their prefix or suffix are necessary on these papers for various reasons—such as accounting, follow-up on production, etc.
