Central Basin Dir. Vasquez Violated Code, Refuses to Say if She Stole Confidential Files The Director is seen on video inside the agency's confidential filing room, later handing a package to Dir. Camacho-Rodriguez. By Brian Hews Hews Media Group-Community News has obtained a disturbing video showing embattled Central Basin Director Leticia Vasquez and her crony friend Joey Martinez trespassing at Central Basin offices in violation of the agency’s Administrative Code, and acknowledging on the video, they were looking
to “start a ruckus” with Central Basin employees. Martinez felt so emboldened by his relationship with Vasquez, he shot the video on his personal cell phone. The video will likely be used as evidence against Vasquez and Martinez in any employee harassment lawsuits filed against Central Basin that will cost the agency thousands in legal fees. A check on the L.A. Superior Court’s website shows former employees Tammy Hierlihy and Sandy Plimpton filing wrongful termination complaints, court case numbers 21STCV27334 and 21STCV06132 respect-

HMG-CN INVESTIGATION RESULTS
Committee That Helped Sarega’s 2017 La Mirada Council Campaign Fined by FPPC By Brian Hews In July 2017, a Hews Media Group-Community News investigation found Residents for a Better La Mirada, an obscure campaign committee that affected the 2017 La Mirada City Council election, was funded by Stelian Onufrie. Onufrie, who was a friend of current La Mirada City Councilman Andrew Sarega, poured $6,500 into RBLM, a lot of money for a City Council campaign. Just weeks later, the RBLM documents showed the money was used to slam District 1 candidate John Lewis and District 2 candidate and incumbent Pauline Deal using extremely unfalttering direct mailed pieces. Lewis won his election, beating Tony Aielo, who is another friend of Sarega’s, but Deal lost to Sarega. RBLM’s address on campaign documents was 12800 Oakwood Lane in La Mirada, and its treasurer was Ionel Imbre. HMG-CN phone calls met with "I have no comment." HMG-CN then found that a
construction company, Diamond Construction and Design, donated the money to RBLM. Diamond listed its company address as 921 N Harbor Blvd. #622 in La Habra. HMG-CN went out to the La Habra address and found it to be a PO Box in a UPS Store. Investigating further, HMGCN was able to locate the mailing address for Diamond. An internet search showed that the address is a 2,089 square foot single-family dwelling located in Buena Park. That is when the investigation found Onufrie hiding behind his company and an obscure committee to give money to get his friend elected. Diamond donated the $6,500 to RBLM, which was the only donation listed in the documents. Then the three mailers were sent. Coincidently, the mailers were mailed from Fort Worth, Texas; Sarega and candidate Tony Aiello used the same company for their mailers. The committee was fined $500 for its actions.
