Design Intervention: Introduction to new material for elevation treatment.

Terraces as a personalized outdoor spaces for majority of office spaces.

To create luxurious and grand spaces for their clients.

Decked common gathering spaces for everyone to connect and expend contacts.

Envisioned as a space that embodies transparency and freedom, these twin towers bring together retail and corporate, segregated yet co-existing under the same roof.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT The greenery and grandeur of this space is realized in terms of expansive terraces on each floor, individual open to sky spaces for commercial areas, an elevated cafe at the centre of the site, impressive double heighted foyer at the entrance and wide passages for circulation.

Township for Hiranandani Exploring typologies for living Year: Jan 2018 -Jun 2018 Firm: MQA Architects Location: Bhiwandi, Thane Site Area: 37,280 sq m Design Intervention: To challenge the existing disciplinary boundaries architecturally by generating a natural design for a population density of 1643 persons per hectare, that combines maximum functions with minimum impact.

To build an effective design making Bhiwandi placid, growing out of the context, with the symbiosis between nature and man made spaces creating an emphasis that results out of the ongoing adaptation of the multiple conflicting forces flowing through the society.

NODE DEVELOPMENT The aangan is considered as the ‘heart of the house’ and a sacred place which buzzes with activity at the break of dawn on a day-to-day basis and specially during festivals. Community halls provide living space outside the family’s small apartments.

NODE DEVELOPMENT An outside corner right at the entrance avails a store with basic amenities that would reduce need to travel far distances for a dweller. Providing plazas between building clusters is inspired by the vibrant concept of aangans, which pave way for recreation and social well-being.

Residential Zone : Shape governs and creates an opportunity to segregate Public Semi- Private and Private zones. It cuts off from the outer fast world.

Node 3 Kindergarten. This will give sense of security to all dwellers when the children are so accessible and working people can make most use of it.

In traditional rural setting, the aangan is the open place where people gather to talk, greet the guests, and socialize, it is an integral part of the indian culture. To rightfully give back to the community this lost character, the vibrant concept of aangan is brought back to life with dedicated vast green spaces between building clusters.

Design Thesis A Rehabilitation centre for vulnerable people , Bringing two extreme age groups together Year: Aug 2017 - Dec 2017 Instructor: Prof. Jasmine Gohil Location: Indore, Madhya Pradesh Site Area: 23717.5 SQ. MT. Scope: A study conducted by SOS children’s village, India revealed that Indore has the highest amount of child labour in India. The many small scale Industries in Indore city attracts people from nearby villages for employment. The Indore development authority has therefore initiated development of the peripheral edge of the city, which is underdeveloped.

Design Intervention: The project ensures a self-sustaining habitat for orphan children and old-age people, to ensure family-based style of care centre that maximises integration of orphan children into surrounding neighbourhood, creating a natural community lifestyle for children living within the community framework.

It also aims at emphasising the vital role of environment in the upbringing of children.

DESIGN STRATEGY The idea was to create a sequential progression of open spaces from semi private to public and narrow to expansive. This was brought about by using residential clusters peripheral to a common green space that was visually connected and accessible through the central area that led to other community spaces.

PLANNING STRATEGY On site, the residential units are planned away from the busy highway.

Consciously creating natural play areas in the form of mound-like structures along the periphery of the site not only aids in making the space more lively and interesting for children, but also caters to the aspect of privacy.

Residential units are designed keeping in mind the climatic context of the area.

Warm air entering the unit through the fenestrations along the walls rises up and is allowed to escape through the opening in the roof, maintaining a cooler temperature in the interior of the space.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT - LEARNING CENTRE This area consists of two blocks, one that serves as a classroom and the other as a space for various activities. These blocks are integrated with otlas facing a central gathering space , creating opportunities for live interaction, exhibition space, and space for cultural activities. Natural light and ventilation in each enclosure create a pleasant, inviting environment conducive to learning.

Climatic Strategy

Here, the space is divided into two parts. The area facing the road is used for commercial purposes relating to marketing of the internal workshop activities and production of their products. The workshop harnesses semi-open and open spaces in the form of otlas and extended plinth around the buildings.

A central courtyard ties the workshop complex together, creating inviting transitional experiences for its users.

Location: Jhansi ki Rani to Panchvati Circle Site Area: 82.6 Hectare (Length of the stretch 2.5 K.M) Aim: To redesign the patch between two densely populated section of the city in order to resolve existing issues.

Design Intervention: The project aims to intervene main idea was to resolve three main issues of parking ,traffic and green cover in the area by altering peripheral conditions by connecting public transport to major commercial zone.

As a part of intervention four main design concept of a retail plaza,urban park,commercial buildings and design city centre to cater the current issues.

Additionally to accommodate all age group a retail plaza is designed to have facilities like children play area, permanent retail infrastructure, designated area for flea market, public gathering spaces easily accesible through pedestrian walk ways,maintaining street character by direct connectivity, shaded walkways and water bodies considering hot climate.

DESIGN STRATEGY The proposed masterplan created a subtle distinction between commercial clusters , residential land use and recreational spaces. Green nodes were developed for recreational use and used as a relief feature for the densely populated stretch.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT - RETAIL PLAZA DESIGN A study of the Jhansi ki Rani to Panchvati Circle stretch revealed the traffic and transportation conditions in the four major junctions of this area. The primary sources of congestion, was identified as the placement and location of the predominant educational and commercial activities around these junctions.

Housing Studio Exploring Typologies, Adaptive housing for high and middle income group Year: Aug 2016 - Dec 2016 Location: Near Hathi Mandir, S.G. Highway, Gota, Ahmedabad Site Area: 35,185 sq. m Aim: To design a residential township for higher and middle income group people, considering services, structure and site planning, with respect to scale, form, functions and aesthetics.

Spatial planning of different typologies for a township, considering amenities such as basement parking, common gathering space,senior citizen park. Placement of the building according to number of users in confined space such that it functions as an independent town.

DESIGN TWIN BUNGALOW

DESIGN VILLA

Designed as a 180 sq. mt. twin bungalow unit is symmetric mirrored along the common wall of two residential units, the use of pergolas and large fenestrations looking out into open green spaces in the private and semi private areas of the house characterise these buildings.

A 250 sq. mt. luxurious villa encourages transparency by visually connecting interior spaces such as the drawing room, dining room and pooja room to exterior spaces such as the lawn, sit-out area and water body.

Institutional Design Comprehending scale for youth learning centre Year: Aug 2015 - Dec 2015 Location: Near Commerce crossroad, Ahmedabad Site Area: 17387 SQ.MT. Aim: To design a Youth Centre that aims to revitalize creative and technical skills among the youth for their better future

Design Intervention: Various amenities and programs were decided based on the requirement of the youth, that was lacked by surrounding institutions.

The placement of building block is strategically planned as per the sun direction to create a shaded area towards the open space.

Light wells and perforated walls were incorporated for optimum light and ventilation respectively.

Pergolas are introduced in order to shade the walk ways along the peripheral edge of the courtyard.

The south and west facade were treated with bison panel jaali to reduce direct sunlight in the building.

Another design tool used to mitigate the effect of accumulation of heat in the interior space, was the use of bison panel jaali to provide optimum light and ventilation in the building.

FACADE TREATMENT As a response to the harsh sun from the south and west directions, the facades on these two sides were provided with vertical screens of bison panels, which effectively reduced the direct effect of the sun in this orientation.

Contextual Studio Imbibing the Architecture of Jambur Year: Jan 2015 - Jun 2015 Location: Jambur village, Sasangir Site Area: 604 SQ. MT. Aim: To design a community centre understanding the socio-economic and cultural aspect of community by studying the existing conditions of the habitation.

Design is developed through understanding the socio-economic and cultural aspect of the community.

A suitable site for the development centre is selected with respect to the context.

Design interventions: The development of a centre for the local community using the local bella stone, terracotta tile and bamboo for construction to merge in to context.

Locating public facilities at entrances such that they are easily accessible to the people.

A central courtyard is created for recreational purpose and workshops along with semi covered passage area. Dance performance space is designed near Karkari river.

A gathering space that can also be used as a performance space is located near the Karkari River bank to create a closeness to the nature.

Climate Studio Responding to environmental aspects Year: Aug 2014 - Dec 2014 Location: Bhopal Site Area: 1800 SQ. MT. Aim: To design a city civic centre for a young group of people, in a composite climate.

Design Intervention: The studio mainly focuses on the climatic aspect such as solar radiation and wind, which were considered while designing.

Various materials were explored in consideration with the climate and the internal climatic changes in a building The built form was derived from a basic design exercise in the studio which was later optimized for the climate adaptability.

DESIGN STRATEGY After analysing the climatic conditions on site, the building was then oriented along the north west to south east axis in order to maximise ventilation. This direction also allowed for optimisation of natural light throughout the building.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT The central axis in the design not only acts as a spine interlinking all interior spaces with each other, but its added height channels the rising hot air from the inside to the outside, facilitating ventilation and simultaneously ushering in natural light.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT Exploration of construction techniques was crucial in the design process, especially in shaping the triangular openings in the structure. For this purpose, box sections made from mild steel were welded onto gusset plates and used rhythmically to beautify the building. Pre-cast, Pre-fabricated concrete panel internally covered with glass wool is used to reduce the heat gain inside the building.
