2025 HERVEY BAY CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT SONG BOOK

Hark the Herald Angels Sing

Hark! the herald angels sing: "Glory to the newborn King! Peace on earth and mercy mild God and sinners reconciled"

Joyful, all ye nations rise

Join the triumph of the skies

With angelic hosts proclaim: "Christ is born in Bethlehem"

Hark! the herald angels sing: "Glory to the newborn King!"

Christ by highest Heav'n adored

Christ the everlasting Lord! Late in time behold Him come

Offspring of the Virgin's womb

Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;

Hail the incarnate Deity

Pleased as man with man to dwell Jesus, our Emmanuel

Hark! the herald angels sing: "Glory to the newborn King!"

Hail the Heav'n-born Prince of Peace!

Hail the Son of Righteousness!

Light and life to all He brings Ris'n with healing in His wings

Mild He lays His glory by Born that man no more may die Born to raise the sons of earth

Born to give them second birth

Hark! the herald angels sing: "Glory to the newborn King!"

Angels We Have Heard on High

Angels we have heard on high Sweetly swinging o'er the plains

And the mountains in reply

Echoing their joyous strains

Gloria In Excelsis Deo

Gloria In Excelsis Deo

Shepherds why this jubilee?

Why your joyous strains prolong? Say what may the tidings be Which inspire your heavenly song?

Gloria In Excelsis Deo

Jingle Bell Rock

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock

Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring

Snowin' and blowin' up bushels of fun

Now the jingle hop has begun

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock

Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time

Dancin' and prancin' in Jingle Bell Square

In the frosty air

What a bright time, it's the right time

To rock the night away

Jingle bell time is a swell time

To go glidin' in a one-horse sleigh

Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet

Jingle around the clock

Mix and a-mingle in the jinglin' feet

That's the jingle bell rock

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock

Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time

Dancin' and prancin' in Jingle Bell Square

In the frosty air

What a bright time, it's the right time

To rock the night away

Rocking around the Christmas Tree

Rockin' around the Christmas tree

At the Christmas party hop

Mistletoe hung where you can see

Every couple tries to stop

Rockin' around the Christmas tree

Let the Christmas spirit ring

Later we'll have some pumpkin pie And we'll do some caroling

You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear Voices singing, let's be jolly

Deck the halls with boughs of holly

Rockin' around the Christmas tree

Have a happy holiday

Everyone dancin' merrily

In the new old-fashioned way

Santa Claus is Coming

Santa Claus is coming

Santa Claus is coming He's not very far away Time to hang your stockings up Tomorrow's Christmas Day

Put a piece of pie or cake

On a pretty Christmas plate Remember Ruldolph's carrot Oh, we can hardly wait!

Christmas tree is twinkling

Christmas pudding stirred

Presents are all wrapped and stacked 'Cause everybodys heard

Santa Claus is coming

Santa Claus is coming He's not very far away Time to hang your stockings up Tomorrow's Christmas Day

We love singing carols

And lighting candles too But my favourite part of Christmas Eve Is cuddling up to you

Christmas tree is twinkling

Christmas pudding stirred

Presents are all wrapped and stacked 'Cause everybodys heard

Santa Claus is coming

Santa Claus is coming He's not very far away Time to hang your stockings up Tomorrow's Christmas Day

Go Santa Go

Santa Claus is coming

Away In a Manger

Away in a manger

No crib for a bed

The little Lord Jesus Laid down His sweet head

The stars in the bright sky Looked down where He lay

The little Lord Jesus

Asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing The Baby awakes

But little Lord Jesus No crying He makes

I love You, Lord Jesus Look down from the sky And stay by my bedside Until morning is nigh

Be near me, Lord Jesus I ask You to stay Close by me forever And love me I pray

Bless all the dear children

In Your tender care And take us to heaven

To live with You there

The First Noel

The First Noel the angel did say Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; In fields as they lay, keeping their sheep, On a cold winter's night that was so deep.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.

They looked up and saw a star Shining in the east beyond them far, And to the earth it gave great light, And so it continued both day and night.

And by the light of that same star Three wise men came from country far; To seek for a king was their intent, And to follow the star wherever it went.

This star drew nigh to the northwest, O'er Bethlehem it took it rest, And there it did both stop and stay Right over the place where Jesus lay.

Then entered in those wise men three Full reverently upon their knee, and offered there in his presence Their gold, and myrrh, and frankincense.

Then let us all with one accord Sing praises to our heavenly Lord; That hath made heaven and earth of naught, And with his blood mankind hath bought

Mary’s Boy Child

A Long time ago in Bethlehem So the Holy Bible say Mary's boy child, Jesus Christ Was born on Christmas Day

Hark, now hear the angels sing

A new King born today And man will live forevermore Because of Christmas Day

Trumpets sound and angels sing Listen to what they say That man will live forevermore Because of Christmas Day

While shepherds watched their flock by night They saw a bright new shining star They heard a choir from heaven sing The music seemed to come from afar

Now Joseph and his wife Mary Came to Bethlehem that night They found no place to birth her child Not a single room was in sight

Hark, now hear the angels sing

A new King born today And man will live forevermore Because of Christmas Day

Trumpets sound and angels sing Listen what they say That man will live forevermore Because of Christmas Day

By and by, they found a little nook In a stable all forlorn And in a manger, cold and dark Mary's little boy was born

Hark, now hear the angels sing A new King born today And man will live forever more Because of Christmas Day

Trumpets sound and angels sing

Listen what they say That man will live forevermore Because of Christmas day

Silent Night

Silent night

Holy night

All is calm

All is bright

Round yon virgin, mother and child

Holy infant, tender and mild

Sleep in heavenly peace

Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, Holy night

Son of God, love's pure light

Radiant beams from thy holy face

With the dawn of redeeming grace

Jesus, Lord at thy birth

Jesus, Lord at thy birth

Silent night, Holy night

Shepherds quake, at the sight

Glories stream from heaven above

Heavenly, hosts sing Hallelujah

Christ the Savior is born

Christ the Savior is born

Do you Hear what I Hear?

Said the night wind to the little lamb

Do you see what I see?

(Do you see what I see?)

Way up in the sky, little lamb

Do you see what I see?

(Do you see what I see?)

A star, a star, dancing in the night

With a tail as big as a kite

With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy

Do you hear what I hear?

(Do you hear what I hear?)

Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy

Do you hear what I hear?

(Do you hear what I hear?)

A song, a song high above the trees

With a voice as big as the sea

With a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king

Do you know what I know? (Do you know what I know?)

In your palace warm, mighty king

Do you know what I know? (Do you know what I know?)

A Child, a Child shivers in the cold

Let us bring him silver and gold

Let us bring him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere

Listen to what I say! (Listen to what I say!)

Pray for peace, people, everywhere

Listen to what I say! (Listen to what I say!)

The Child, the Child sleeping in the night

He will bring us goodness and light

He will bring us goodness and light

Mary Did you Know?

Mary, did you know

That your baby boy will one day walk on water?

Mary, did you know

That your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?

Did you know

That your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you've delivered Will soon deliver you

Mary, did you know

That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?

Mary, did you know

That your baby boy will calm a storm with His hand?

Did you know

That your baby boy has walked where angels trod? And when you kiss your little baby You've kissed the face of God

Mary, did you know?

The blind will see The deaf will hear And the dead will live again The lame will leap The dumb will speak The praises of the Lamb

Mary, did you know

That your baby boy is Lord of all creation?

Mary, did you know

That your baby boy will one day rule the nations?

Did you know

That your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb? This sleeping child you're holding Is the Great I Am

Oh Mary did you know?

O Holy Night

Oh, holy night! The stars are brightly shining It is the night of the dear Savior's birth

Long lay the world in sin and error pining Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices Oh, night divine

Oh, night when Christ was born

Truly He taught us to love one another

His law is love and His gospel is peace Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother

And in His name, all oppression shall cease Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we Let all within us praise His holy name

Christ is the Lord! Oh, praise His Name forever His power and glory evermore proclaim

Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices

Oh, night divine

Oh, night when Christ was born

Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born Christ is the Lord! Oh, praise His Name forever His power and glory evermore proclaim

Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born

PLEASE

The Holy City

Last night I lay asleeping

There came a dream so fair

I stood in old Jerusalem beside the temple there

I heard the children singing and ever as they sang

Me thought the voice of angels from heaven in answer rang Me thought the voice of angels from heaven in answer rang Jerusalem, Jerusalem

Lift up your gates and sing Hosanna in the highest Hosanna to your king

And then me thought my dream was changed

The streets no longer rang Hushed were the glad hosannas

The little children sang

The sun grew dark with mystery

The morn was cold and chill

As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill

As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill

Jerusalem, Jerusalem

Hark! How the angels sing Hosanna in the highest Hosanna to your king

And once again the scene was changed

New earth there seemed to be I saw the holy city beside the tideless seas

The light of God was on its streets

The gates were open wide

And all who would might enter

And no one was denied

No need of moon or stars by night

Nor sun to shine by day

It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away

It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away Jerusalem, Jerusalem

Sing for the night is o'er

Hosanna in the highest Hosanna for ever more Hosanna in the highest Hosanna for ever more
