Welcome Word
Tourism is an area of growth in a Central Asia, and an important one at that. But for some time the region has struggled to define itself as a tourism destination. It has history and culture aplenty and, anyone who has visited will know that it will reward and delight those who immerse themselves in it. Who couldn’t marvel at the architectural splendours of Samarkand and Bukhara or the wide open steppe and immense mountain passes with their nomadic communities?
However, Central Asia, and its surrounding countries are not destinations for the faint hearted. While infrastructure and bureaucracy have improved in recent years, those who visit need a sense of adventure that lends itself more to a younger, but less wealthy generation. Tours from those who are older and have more disposable income tend to demand more luxuries and less potential for things to go wrong. You won’t find many beaches in Central Asia to relax on and high quality service remains a rarity.
