Kings House School Science Laboratory Refurbishment
Kings House School embarked on an ambitious project to modernise its Science laboratory, transforming it into an innovative space, designed to ignite students’ curiosity and foster scientific exploration.
Luan Wheeler, our Account Manager kicked off the project with in-depth consultations with the school’s director Suhalia Liaquat, to understand their vision. This collaborative effort involved discussing the laboratory’s layout, the type of equipment required, and the desired aesthetic.
The new laboratory not only meets all regulatory standards but also provides a stimulating environment for learning, which has significantly enhanced the students’ engagement and interest in science.
Now we have an active and in use science lab that allows us to deliver science lessons effectively.
We recommend HFS as the communication throughout never wavered. We were shown a variety of suppliers and were able to make an informed decision based on our requirements.

School Refurbishment
Our Account Manager, Luan Wheeler, worked closely with Head Teacher Josie Walters to review and source classroom tables and chairs from a range of trusted furniture suppliers creating a vibrant, functional space that supports learning and team work.
Metalliform’s trapezoid tables have revolutionised classroom layouts. These tables aren’t just practical; they’re a game-changer for collaborative learning. The unique shape allows for easy group work, fostering an interactive and engaging learning environment. Teachers appreciate the flexibility to rearrange the tables quickly to suit different activities.
KI’s iconic Postura+ chairs are a hit among students and teachers! Ash Grimsey, our Education Furniture Specialist, emphasises their ergonomic design promotes good posture and reduces discomfort during long periods of sitting.
The trapezoid tables with duraform edges were chosen to address concerns about exposure to MDF and chemically treated materials. Additionally, the Postura+ chairs were selected for their one-piece,
fixed design, which minimised safety risks, such as loose parts. By choosing furniture made with minimal chemical treatments and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes, the school created a safer, more sustainable learning environment for students.
For the staff at Hillborough, meetings are now more efficient and adaptable, thanks to our fliptop tables. These tables offer the perfect blend of style and functionality. With their easy-to-use flip mechanism, setting up for a meeting or clearing
space for other activities is quick. This flexibility supports a dynamic work environment, allowing staff to make the most of their space and time.
This refurbishment project took just 8 weeks, ensuring the school was ready for the new term in September. The collaboration between our team and the school was smooth, highlighting our dedication to providing an expert, tailored service. The result is a school environment that is not only functional but also a place where students and teachers can excel.
The children and staff were thrilled to return to bright, engaging classrooms. It’s truly the place to be, with everyone filled with excitement!

Grace Cook
A brand new Primary & Nursery school fit out with furniture & resources
Grace Cook Primary & Nursery school opened in September 2022 in Stowmarket, Suffolk. Part of Orwell Multi Academy trust, the school initially opened for nursery, reception, year 1 and 2.
The school is aiming to expand gradually over the next few years to offer 210 Primary and 60 Nursery places. The school is named after Grace Cook (1877 – 1958), a pioneering astronomer and great role model from Stowmarket.
Our dedicated Account Manager provided a list of quotes and recommendations for the initial fit out which included a nursery room, 2 classrooms, office and staff room, dining area and library.
From preliminary discussions to regular meetings, the brief was revised and developed in line with the school’s needs.

We project managed the sourcing, delivery and installation of furniture on time and to budget.
The nursery has a role play kitchen, a dressing up unit, easels, wellie stand and trikes to encourage play indoors and outdoors. Classrooms are kitted out with tables, chairs and storage.
We have met all the schools needs in delivering furniture as well as resources from exercise books and stationery to cleaning and first-aid to ensure everything was ready for their opening in September 2022. We are now in discussions and developing plans for a brand new project.
We were delighted to attend the official opening of the school, with speeches thanking everyone involved, a delicious cake and a moving performance from the children singing “you’ve got a friend in me”.
All items were delivered on time and in a professional manner by Emma Mather, our Account Manager who ensured we were kept informed and updated on key milestone deadlines. The process was very clear and transparent. HFS took the stress out of the opening of a new school! We would not hesitate to use them again.

Parents have mentioned what an incredible library we have and have asked for photos to show family and friends.
Richard de Clare Community Academy Library revamp
The new Headteacher at Richard de Clare contacted HFS to help give their school library the ‘WOW’ factor. A key part of the brief was ensuring the room theme complimented the school’s maroon uniform. We delivered colourful chairs and modern tables to help engage and inspire. The key focal point to the library was the feature tree to help create an inviting and homely environment for pupils.
The service we received was faultless. I would have no hesitations to recommend or use HFS for further school improvement projects. First class service resulting in a stunning library.

Unity Schools Partnership
New Nursery Build
Unity Schools Partnership embarked on an exciting journey to open a new nursery, aiming to create an inspiring and engaging environment for young learners.
In January, the project took its first steps. An in-depth consultation was held with Unity Schools Partnership to discuss their vision and preferences. Emma Mather, our dedicated Account Manager, collaborated closely with Carla Dale, the Headteacher, and Karen Davies, the Nursery Manager. They envisioned a space that would not only cater to the developmental needs of the children but also spark their imaginations. We took note of the different zones required, such as the imaginative play area, creative and messy play section, quiet retreat, and the active play zones.
Each area required careful consideration to ensure it supported the children’s growth and development while being visually appealing and functional.
By the end of April, Millhouse had completed the installation of all the furniture. Our swift and efficient turnaround was a testament to our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. From advising on necessary equipment to the final touches of installation, every step was made easy and stress-free for the nursery team.
The nursery now boasts a beautifully arranged space that caters to various educational activities:
• Imaginative Play: Stimulating creativity with thoughtfully designed play zones.
• Active Play: Promoting physical activity and motor skills development.
The transformation of Unity Stars Nursery was nothing short of magical. Each space was carefully curated to provide a balance of activity, rest, and creativity. The children now have a vibrant, dynamic environment that supports their holistic development. The staff are thrilled with the practicality and flexibility of the furniture, which allows them to easily adapt the space to different activities and themes.
We have experience of using HFS for new schools and know that they will support in all aspects of the project from measuring the site, gaining quotes, offering expert advice on product selection and all the way though to delivery and install. The service we received for Unity Stars was first class.

BEAM
Transforming BEAM Café Bar
At the heart of Hertford lies a cultural gem, BEAM. BEAM comprises of a Theatre, Cinema and Community spaces. BEAM, previously Hertford Theatre reopened at the end of August and was closed for a complete revamp. We were honoured to be part of this major project to help remodel its café bar. The vision was clear: create a space that not only serves as a functional café but also embodies the theatre’s rich history and future aspirations.
Debbie Power, our dedicated Sales Manager, headed this project from concept through to reality. The process began with securing the perfect standalone furnishings, to complement the theatre’s remodelled interior.
HFS arranged a visit to the Clerkenwell Design Centre in London, to provide stakeholders with the opportunity to gather inspiration for trending furniture styles and to allow BEAM to communicate their ideas to achieve a more cohesive result.
The chosen furnishings were statements of style and comfort. Dining chairs and coffee tables were strategically selected, to offer visitors a comfortable and inviting environment. Low seating and coffee tables were positioned to provide a perfect vantage point over the scenic river, adding an element of relaxation to the café bar experience.
The new Screen and Kitchen bar are now a cherished part of BEAM, a vibrant space where the community can gather, relax, and enjoy. The new facilities have attracted a diverse audience, from theatre-goers and movie enthusiasts to artists and event organisers. By prioritising inclusivity and versatility, our project team successfully created a dynamic hub that will continue to serve and inspire the community for years to come.
Our Project Manager Debbie Power was supportive and excellent at communication.
The transformation of BEAM Café Bar was an exciting project for HFS, allowing us to blend functionality with style to create a vibrant and welcoming space. By carefully selecting furniture that enhances comfort and atmosphere, we’re proud to have played a key role in shaping a space where the community can connect and enjoy.

Wall Art £5000 Prize Winner
In October 2023 we ran a competition for schools to tell us how they support eco-initiatives.
The prize was our biggest ever: Wall Art worth up to £5000, a Caring for Environment Product Bundle and a Wildlife Consultation with Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust.
Over 300 schools entered the competition and the winner was Bedgrove Junior School!
The school’s values of Inspire, Challenge and Succeed are central to the children’s learning and experiences at Bedgrove Junior. The environment is at the heart of Bedgrove’s values: to enable children to develop as respectful and caring global citizens contributing positively to the community and wider world.
The brief was to use the 3 walls to show a view of the world now if we continue to disrespect nature; an image of everyone coming together to help nature and an image of animals and nature thriving in the future.
The mural looks amazing. I am really pleased with the look, finish and the amount of colour it brings to the space. It really reflects what we are trying to do.
