Internal use only Hertfordshire Students’ Union National Student Survey 2016 School of Life and Medical Sciences The School of Life and Medical Sciences will be disappointed with their results in the NSS 2016, as they saw decreases in all areas. This follows a moderately successful year in 2015, where the School saw improvements in a number of areas. Declines in all areas, including declines of at least 5% in a number of areas, has left the School below the sector mean in all areas except Learning Resources, which remains at 89%. Overall satisfaction in the School decreased by 10%, while the Students’ Union saw a decline of 4%. Teaching

Positive and Negative Themes (Open Comments) Within the School of Life and Medical Science, the main positive comments revolve around how supportive the staff is, how enthusiastic the lecturers are, the high standard of teaching and the interesting course content that is available to students.

The timetable is the most recurring negative issue; almost every course in this school appears to have a problem with this. On some courses, lecturers are hard to get in contact with and appear to be unsupportive.
