IUDs

The Best Form Of Contraception

Introduction
Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are a highly effective form of long-acting reversible contraception. They are small, T-shaped devices that are inserted into the uterus by a women’s health clinic.

There are two types of IUDs: hormonal and non-hormonal. Hormonal IUDs release progestin, which thickens cervical mucus and thins the lining of the uterus, making it difficult for sperm to fertilize an egg. Non-hormonal IUDs are made of copper, which produces an inflammatory response that is toxic to sperm.
