FEATURED picnic photoshoot

COLLECTION The "Little Miss Sunshine" collection started the Spring Collection for Herringstone's . A breath of fresh air and a peaceful view at a residential home in Carenco was the venue for the soft & blissful collection. The girls had a mock picnic, sponsored by The Vibe -- Luxury Picnics, ran through grassy hills, and was one with nature through acres of land. The collection features powder blue contemporary dress and rompers, gingham and floral prints, mixed with light rays of yellow and blush color palettes.

Letter from the

r o t i d E Hi, I'm Kristina with a K

This past weekend, I attended Los Angeles Fashion Week. And you know I was front row taking notes! After careful consideration and debates with my colleagues, I've concluded that the SOUTH is the pinnacle for fashion. I have plenty of subjective "facts" to back it up. First, I would like to start with street style. LA loves comfort and sustainability clothing – nothing like you see on television with KUWTK! Most of the outfits were wide-legged cropped jeans with a tank or crop top, paired with a sneaker, minimal makeup, and oversized bags. In the South, the signature style is more style-focused. Meaning, that on a typical day out, you see a dress, denim jacket, cute kitten heels or booties, a pouch, and accessories. As I watched the LA fashion show, it hit me that the South is really making a statement in fashion. A few weeks ago, I was invited to Ecole Duperre Paris -- Parade of Fashions, a New Orleans Fashion Week event, downtown NOLA. The over-the-top, unconventional, high-fashions were expressed through a French essence mixed with a New Orleans southern belle-style spin. Compared to Los Angeles Fashion Week, which has a unique style of retro prints, platforms, strappy details, and an astronomical amount of overlapping. Perhaps my opinion is biased based on the fact that I'm a true Southerner. Still, I found the collections in the South represent a more robust meaning and appreciation of high-fashion and walking art. That is why "we" (The South as a collective) is the newest pinnacle for high fashion, culture, art, and style.

On April 1, 1989, two sisters, Debbie Herrington and Cindy Stone, turned their dreams into reality and opened the first HerringStone's Boutique in Monroe, Louisiana. The sisters dreamt of bringing innovative and trendsetting fashion to their hometown. With a great deal of hard work, years of constantly targeting new trends, and seeking out the best brands and merchandise, Cindy and Debbie’s dream took off beyond the twin cities and HerringStone’s became a household name for women’s wardrobes across north Louisiana. Over the years HerringStone's has transpired into a Louisiana staple boutique. The sisters created an iconic company and continue to do so with secondgeneration, Hanna Herrington Lavergne and Haley Herrington; hence our phrase two generations and growing. Branching out from the limbs of HerringStone's as a sister store, HeirLoom by HerringStone's evolved. HeirLoom, meaning something of value passed on from one generation to the next, was established in 2017 and continues to flourish. What started as a small family business is slowly growing into something greater and we thank you for following along and supporting us! In addition to our website, HerringStone’s has five store locations in Louisiana: HerringStone's Monroe, HerringStone's Lafayette, HeirLoom By HerringStone’s Youngsville, HeirLoom By HerringStone's in Houma, and our newest addition HerringStone's Baton Rouge. Each storefront is a haven for style, fashion, and top of the line customer service.

I graduated in Fashion Merchandising in 1985, and I always wanted to be in the industry. I worked as a buyer and manager for a boutique right out of college for three years. One day, two stores came available in the city, and I asked Cindy if she’d be interested in a partnership and buying two boutiques. And that’s how we got started!

Reflections:

"For me, it’s the growth of the business. We’ve been in business for 33 years, and we only had the Monroe area twenty-two of those years. When Hanna opened the Lafayette location 11 years ago, that’s when the real growth began."
