he Mabopane Train Station concourse has by far got to be the longest renovation to be undertaken. Before the construction of stadiums for the 2010 soccer World Cup were even thought to be a possibility in South Africa, phase 1of the renovations had already started.

The construction company responsible for the renovations, Enza Construction, the City of Tshwane, and Intersite Property Management Services, a subsidiary of Passenger Rail Agency South Africa (PRASA), have all remained mum about the completion date .

Numerous communiqué,emails, and telephonewere made and sent to the entities, but not any single manager or representative of the four bodies could shed the slightest light on the progress of the renovations. All enquiries were bungled by bureaucratic delays at play.

Initially phase one of the Mabopane train station which is the third-busiest in South Africa and services about 80 000 commuters was scheduled to undergo a five-year refurbishment programme that would see the upgrading of facilities such as sewerage, water delivery and storm water drainage, accessibility to stairways, the ticket offices and improved safety.

Over R60m of taxpayers’ money continues to go down the drain as one of the longest renovation in the history of South Africa moves at a snail pace with no end on sight.

The train station stands out like a sore thumb of two worlds. On the western side, the infrastructure is in a terrible state of lewdness and reeking of rot. On the Soshanguve side, it is giving a sluggish and excruciating birth to modernity. The rough diamond on the station’s crown is infested with drug peddling, brazen muggings and hazardous traffic congestion in both Mabopane and Soshanguve.

Early this year traders on the Soshanguve side were removed from the precinct of

the station, paving the way for a multimillion development. The move sparked a controversy as about 1 400 informal traders were moved across Buitekant Road. The bus and taxi ranks were also moved across the road. The buses were allocated an open space in Block AA forcing passengers to walk across the road from the station risking to be run over by speeding motorists.

Taxis were left no option but to stop in the middle of the busy road to off load and pick passengers, making the situation a nightmare for motorists. On pick hours, hordes of Metro police officers are posted on the road a few paces away from the busy intersection stopping motorists while turning a blind eye to the mayhem at the four-way stop sign.

The bus and taxi rank construction came to a halt barely two months after it had started and now the station precinct stands abandoned like a dilapidated structure in an area ravaged by war. And ironically, nobody is willing to share a hint of light on the cause for the stoppage.

However, the stoppage has stirred the ire of commuters and other residents.

MS Maria Sithole, a train commuter who resides in Block CV said “The refurbishment of the train station is taking too long, it inconveniences us as we get off the train like herds of cattle out of the kraal and have to be at the mercy of criminals, they have to finish our station soon.”

The Department of Transport allocated R15-million towards the development of the project, the City of Tshwane and the South African Rail Commuter Corporation (SARCC)would come up with total amounted budgeted while Intersite was tasked with managing the infrastructure.

Land invaders pay R3 500 for stands

By Koketso Mangena A MAN CLAIMING to be the rightful owner of a piece of land in Extension 6, Soshanguve, is preying on desperate people who want to own houses by charging them various prices to allocate them stands.

People had invaded the land last year and they have erected about 2000 shacks.

But were later evicted by the authorities after they had paid several unscrupulous people money ranging from R3 5000.

Italleged the people were promised they would later be allocated RDP houses.

A foreign national who wished to remain anonymous and had been squatting in the area said; “I paid an amount of R3500 for my stand and second hand material which was stolen from other occupants.

My children are suffering because there are no water taps. We usually get water from our neighbours who have taps in

their yards.”

Another man also confirmed that he paid a certain amount to get a stand and that he would be allocated a number. He alleged the people who sold them the stands, would later come back and steal the stands when their owners delayed to occupy them.

Attempts by the authorities to remove illegal occupants have failed. During Sosh Times’ investigation, only known as‘Khosi’ who confirmed that he was the land owner, offered our reporter a piece of land in exchange for R3500, which he said could be handed over to him in a later stage.

The man who is alleged to be selling stands in Extension disputed the claim and said; “I do not sell stands, so go f*** yourselves and go to hell”.

The councillor who the jurisdiction of Extension 6 falls under his ward, Mr Simon Marotola declined to comment.

Sangoma saved from angry mob Duarte puts election

“YOU ARE A WITCH and killer” so the residents of Moshate area in Soshanguve confusingly concluded.

Paraffin and matchsticks in the air after an angry mob threatened to torch a helpless mother of five to death. To her rescue the men in blue arrived on the scene seizing her away from danger. This was after the enraged community members accused the Sangoma of killing three children.

The traditional healer was struck with panic following her ordeal. The woman had no other alternative but to plead with the community to spare her family Apparently three children aged 3 to 6 ate poison where two of them died on the spot. The last one later died at a local hospital. Due to their biased mentality about traditional healers, the patrons of Moshate went on a rampage. Marching to the sangoma’s house, the fuming residents attempted to torch the anonymous Sangoma family to death. Some of the residents went to an extent of breaking in and stealing a plasma television.

Sosh Times’ attempts to contact the accused were unsuccessful.

“We arrived on time to find that the residents were about to set the victim alight. Fortunately we rescued her and took her to the police station.

So far the woman is safe. We are still waiting for the autopsy results from the lab to confirm what kind of poison the children ate,” said Warrant officer Lolo Mangena.

THE AFRICAN National Congress (ANC), Deputy Secretary General Jessie Duarte,recently ratcheted up the political rhetoric during her stop in Soshanguve ahead of the August local government elections.

Addressing throngs of ANC supporters packed at Furniture World Private College sports ground, Duarte said that it is inconceivable that people are subjected to exorbitant municipal rates that perpetuate poverty.

“I want to say that the one of the things that the ANC understands is that we do not want to make our people poorer.

So this thing of the rent that is so high, for the older people we are going to follow it up. We cannot have a municipality that charge pensioners for dustbins. Yah, you are not supposed to pay for a dustbin if you are a pensioner.

“We will ask the municipality to look at the billing system, because there must be something wrong when a water bill is so high that you will never in your life time be able to pay it off.

We do not want our people to become poorer than they are, we want you to get out of poverty.

The only way to do that is for the government of the ANC to help the people get out of poverty,” said Duarte.

Duarte conceded that the ruling party is struggling to create work for the young people; “It is a challenge that is a bit difficult to overcome. With your help and through the Ministry of Small and Medium Business Enterprise and the community we can make sure that some of you are able to create work in Soshanguve. Instead of waiting for somebody to build a big factory somewhere, it must happen here.

“This young people standing here must be the ones saying I am

ready to open a small business and I will be able in a year or two also employ two, three more people. There is nothing comrades that is stopping us than ourselves,” she said.

She called on for the churches;community at large to partner with the ANC led government to overcome the scourge of substance abuse.

“We must speak to all the churches in the area. Nyaope is not going away, even if we send our children to rehabilitation centres, when they come back the people who sell Nyaope wait for three, four week and take them again. They rob the child of the soul. There has to be some work done together with us, churches and the ANC. “We must ensure that when they come back from rehab we help them through that path to complete cleanness, to clean yourself of nyaope is not easy.

Once you are hooked, because it is a drug, it destroys your brain cells making you crazy,” she said.

Duarte reiterated the call made by some within the ANC that the party is committed to fighting corruption and put an end to the infightings.

“We need you to stand with us so that we can get rid of corrupt people, even those who are wearing an ANC t-shirts. We are tired of people blaming the ANC for corruption of the few, it is not our organisation that is corrupt, and it is those individuals who do wrong things that you must point them out. Don’t hide corrupt people amongst yourselves rather point them out.

“The time for infighting is over. We are no longer going to come to wards to talk about differences people have with each other. We will come to talk to you about development, education of the youth, who is fighting about any position any longer,” she said.

Matshegisha – home of love and care

hildren aged between 5 and 15 from Mathsegisha Dropin Centre enlivened the residents of the sleepy village of Mogogelo village near Hammanskraal when they took to the dusty streets to mark the Internal Nelson Mandela Day. The centre’s drum majorettes drew ululations from onlookers as they paraded the streets. The highlights of the event were captivating performances of drama and traditional dance.

Founder of the centre, Pastor Edward Molobela, confirmed that Matshegisha was established three years ago and because the centre is not funded, it operates on money from his pocket.

The centre caters for adults, disadvantaged children; it also accommodates vulnerable children in the mornings and afternoons by providing meals. School going children are assisted with their homework.

Ironically, it seems Mogogelo residents do not understand or just ignorant of the significance of 67 minutes of serving the needy voluntarily. Residents

orth West University (NWU) Mafikeng Campus lecturer, Dr Lehlohonolo Phali encouraged more pupils to take Mathematics and Science.He said that will assist the country in the long run to acquire the much needed skills.

“Mathematics and Science are everywhere. If you think you are not going to use mathematics and science, you are mistaken. There are a lot of practical applications of physics and biology too.

Having a good grasp on numbers help us make sense of finances, probabilities, time calculations and etc,” Phali said.

The youthful lecturer has taken it upon himself to teach these critical subjects to pupils from Grade 8 to 12.“I also help out university and college students too.

I give my lessons after hours and even during weekends. I am looking to

start a mathematical sciences academy which will help me reach more people than I am now. My aim is to assist especially those pupils from rural areas.

“I also give motivational talks to high school pupils too. We need to teach the youth about the importance of education. Our generation needs to be aware of opportunities that are out there,” he said.

Phali studied BSc and majored in Applied Mathematics, Electronics and Pure Mathematics. He went on to do Honours, MSc and PhD all in Applied Mathematics.

Phali is currently the youngest student to complete a PhD degree at the North West University.

“I grew up in an average family in Sebokeng in Vereeniging. My father was the only breadwinner at home. However he passed away back in 2003. My

brothers had to take over the responsibilities at home.

I loved studying especially Mathematics since from an early age.

“I saw the applications of mathematics in real life.

So that helped me a lot.

Mathematics is a scarce skill program/course, so that means the market is there for those who are good in Mathematics and Science in general,” he added.

Phali said South Africa lacks more researchers in this field too. He further said what he learned was that Mathematics helped people to think analytically.

“I was also inspired by the late professor Matthews Nkambule. He always talked about the opportunities that are there in studying Mathematics. My overall passion and love for it kept me going. I specialise in Applied MathematicsMathematical modeling,” he added.

THE MINISTER of Basic Education, Ms Angie Motshekga has lamented that more than 80% of South Africans do not read, adding that the culture of reading was poor, and therefore called on parents to read for their children and ask their children to read for them.

The minister was speaking at the handing over of a container library

to Tlhasedi Primary School in Hebron. Avbob donated the library to the school through its partnership with the Department of Basic Education. It is the 33rd to be handed over since the partnership started. Each container library is worth R350 000 and is equipped with 2 500 books.

The Minister encouraged learners to make use of

the library and read to improve literacy levels in the country.She said the overall performance of learners in many subjects is affected by reading skills, including mathematics, as it requires them to follow instructions.

The Minister said it would take over three years to review whether the libraries are being used efficiently.

WAITING IN LONG queues for medication at stock outs at healthcare facility could soon become the thing of the past. This after the announcement made by the Minister of Health Dr. Aaron Motshwaledi at the International AIDS conference that South Africans will soon be able to obtain their medication from self-service medicine dispensing machines.

In its media statement, the ministry said the Pharmacy Dispensing Unit (PDU) is currently being piloted at Thembalethu Clinic in Johannesburg. He described it as a self-service machine where patients could obtain their medication in the same way people withdraw money from the ATM. “To use the machine, all a patient needs to do is to register for the service, after which they receive a card that is similar to a bank card.

To withdraw their medication, users simply insert their card into PDU machine, enter their PIN and select the medication they require

from the list.

“The machine, immediately dispenses the selected medication, illuminating the need for patients to wait in queues. The PDU allows the patients to communicate directly with a trained pharmacist directly from the machine using a built-in video conference facility,” it said.

Other technology announced by the ministry includes a Stock Visibility System, a mobile application that enables medicine availability information at a primary health care centres to be uploaded to a central online data repository. “ The camera on the phone can be used to scan medicine barcode and update the stock levels thus enabling health care workers to easily monitor the quantity they have in stock and timely order medication that might running low. This will help to reduce the number of stock-outs at clinics.

“The department also launched MomConnect, a free sms service that provides pregnant mothers with regular foetal development updates throughout the term of their pregnancy. The popular service has already 800 000 registered users,” it said in the statement.

The delegates got a glimpse of Mothera2Mothers, a service that connects new mothers to experience mentors through their pregnancy, the Medication Adherence App, which reminds users of their clinic or hospital visit and to take scheduled medication.

Also showcased was B-wise, a youth focused online service that provided young people with health information and allows them to have their health-related questions answered by an expert adviser within 48 hours.

ello everybody, my name is Kentina Mmadinotshe Nonozo Mashala and I am from Soshanguve. My speech this morning is about Tata Madiba and here are the five facts about this icon that you probably didn’t know.

Nelson Mandela was the President of South Africa from 1994-1999. He was the first Black President of South Africa, and the first president to be elected in a fully representative general election.

Nelson Mandela’s government focused on abolishing all racial discriminations against Black people and enforced racial integration. In school, Mandela studied law and became one of South Africa’s first Black lawyers.

In the 1950s, he was elected leader of youth wing of the African National Congress (ANC), and would later found the armed wing of the organisation, Umkhonto we Sizwe, when the minority white government refused to talk to Mandela’s organisation to find a peaceful solution to the repressive laws of the country.

“I was moved when I saw the unfortunate state of Phumzile Primary. It dawned to me that it was a conducive environment for children to get educated. I then posted that as news feed on Facebook under the Made in Sosha”, said activist Mr. Zamokwakhe Sithole.

Made-In-Sosha was started in October 2015 by Mr. Mafatshe Mogoai. The campaign develops people, places and initiatives uniting a vibrant and forwardthinking community.

With the go ahead from the school management, the team embarked on a public

campaign to request the donation of items highlighted as urgent by the school, which included classroom and staff room furniture. The donations included sick bay basic requirements, paint for the wall, sports and drum majorettes equipments.The recent event saw the community handing over the items, and renovating the school.

Some of the donations made on the day included over 300 classroom chairs and tables from Battle Bay Foundation, along with a ‘Wendy’ house for security and a printer for the staff room. Other stakeholders like PSA donated the Sick Bay linens. Rneo Trading and Molewa Butchery donated paints respectively, and Tsosoloso Ya Batsha gave plates and cups that will be used for the school’s feeding scheme. Ramaphunye Charity Organisation, in turn, donated an office table and a filing cabinet for the staff room.

t was a marvel to watch the improvisations of a drama script by Khensane Moyane at the Matshegisa Drop-in Centre in Mogogelo Village during the Mandela Day celebrations recently.

The Grade 10 learner at the Machakela Mamodiba Secondary School left the audience spellbound, displaying the potential of gracing the local theatre with her dazzling acting talent.

She transformed herself incredibly from a 15 years old girl into a middle age mother of three children and fitted into the character like a glove. Her talent was also noticeable when she was able to direct other players who seemed to have been overwhelmed by more than 100 people watching the performance.

Dry season for the orange party

By Thapelo Masilela THE DEATH OF the ANC Women’s League steward in Mogogelo,Mrs Martha Adams some time ago,cast a bad spell for the National Freedom Party (NFP), in the Moretele Local Municipality ward situated in the North West Province.

During the funeral, the then African National Congress (ANC) Mayor, Mr Sello Lehari, vowed to retrieve the ward from the hands of the NFP, in honour of the struggle icon Martha Adams. With the local government elections going to take place in a week’s time, it remains to be seen whether the ANC is going to turn their wishes into reality.

Perhaps it is going to be a walk over for the ANC by virtue of the fact that the orange party is in a dry season.

The ownership of that ward by the NFP dwindled into thin air as the Independent Electoral Commission disqualified the party from contesting the local government elections, after it failed to pay registration fees on time.

But the NFP Councillor, Mr Jan Mosupye said; “The ANC

is not going to get this ward in a silver plate. We are prepared to stop it from regaining this ward. We can rather ask our members to either vote for EFF or DA in order to keep the ANC at bay.”

Indeed with the emergence of the EFF in recent times with lots of rhetoric and the vigorous campaigning of the DA it would seem the dice are loaded against the ANC. It will need a lot of hard work to bring a balance of forces and remain afloat.

But it is doubtful whether the NFP orphans will cross-over to the DA. After they ran away from ANC unfair practices in 2011, the DA did not welcome them with open arms. The DA used stringent methods in choosing their preferred candidates. Ultimately they migrated to NFP and they won the only ward in the whole of North West province.

In KwaZulu-Natal there is a danger of EFF entering into partnership with NFP to win the majority of the municipalities.

Observers say the EFF is eyeing on a coalition with NFP in virtue of the fact that “NFP is currently

Picture sourced from: www.bdlive.co.za a majority party in some municipalities in KwaZuluNatal” and the results of the 2014 general elections showed that a “section of the electorate had confidence in the NFP.” NFP is a breakaway of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) which received an overwhelming support in the

Municipal Elections in 2011.

It also managed to garner six seats in the general elections last year becoming the fifth largest party in the country. But five years later all is not well in the orange party.

Ms. Zanele Magwaza-Msibi has been out of action for more than a year after falling ill at

the end of 2014, leading to a vacuum that led to divisions within the party.

DA’s Solly Msimanga hopes to turn Tshwane into a better version of Sweden

Meet the Democratic Alliance’s candidate for the imploding municipality of Tshwane. In the nation’s other capital, opposition parties benefit from the fact that it couldn’t possibly do

a worse job than the African National Congress. But how much better is not worse? And can Msimanga, a political unknown in national circles, deliver the goods in so volatile and high profile a city?

THE IKAGENG OLD Age Centre, located in the middle of a middle-middle-class ‘hood in Mamelodi East, is by all accounts an extraordinary institution. A spotless crèchecum-frail care combo, it is an exceedingly rare (and perhaps metaphysical) instance of a Benjamin Button-like lifeloop – diapers to diapers, dust to dust. On a blustery, overcast Mandela Day, both the young and the wrinkled were being helped into helplessness, first by a vast road works crew tasked with pushing mounds of dirt around the facility’s entrance, courtesy of the maligned mayor Kgosientso ‘Sputla’ Ramokgopa and the ANC’s increasingly desperate election machinery; and second by the DA, who had brought sanitary products and governance wisdom, the latter in the person of the anti-Sputla mayoral hopeful Solly Msimanga, and a powerhouse posse of DA operatives, including Chief Whip John Steenhuisen.

You cannot say that the DA encounters great enthusiasm here in Battleground Tshwane, but nor can you say the DA encounters great enthusiasm anywhere. The Blue Army is, by accident and by design, the party of Unenthusiasm. Their sui generis political product offers an exact replica of the ruling party’s platform, minus (they insist) the dysfunction and corruption. Their political gift is the ANC’s entrenched yakuza, who easily bat away sclerotic, toothless intra-party enemies dumb enough to tangle with them. Double blessed

– both with another party’s platform and with that party’s inability to realise the platform – the unloved DA have pulled off a near miracle: they’re ahead 39.24% to the ANC’s 25.26% in Tshwane, according to a recent poll, and are in a position to pull a Cape Town 2006 coalition-type thing here in the nation’s creaky executive capital.

But back to the Ikageng Old Age Centre. “This place is Ubuntu in action,” said Natasha Mazzone, the DA’s shadow minister of public enterprises, as we stood alongside the oldsters taking their lunch in an immaculately kept mess hall.

I watched to see if “Ubuntu” would function as a trigger word, sending the ancients into paroxysms of stroke-inducing laughter. (It didn’t, which I attributed to deafness.)

Mazzone had a point: Ikageng does make for good copy. The facility is maintained by a combination of charitable donors and cash from the government, but it’s really a local project that becomes a photo-op dwarf star during election time. Observing a campaign event in a frail care facility is to watch retail politics in its rawest manifestation: politicians sell wishes to the desperately vulnerable, all of whom have heard every possible version of their bullshit, but no longer have the wherewithal to load, aim and shoot a high-calibre handgun. It was a grim thing to behold, all these twisted bodies coaxed into ANC T-shirts in preparation for the DA’s visit, to say nothing of the force-feeding of mash and mielies and social democracy-

lite. But give the DA this much: they were offering bromides in unfriendly territory. The first thing the visitor sees above reception area is a painting of Madiba alongside Zuma, one of the very few artistic depictions of the current president that doesn’t prominently feature his flaccid cock.

The ANC and the old folks were, according to both the polls and the DA, falling out of love. The DA’s councillorin-waiting, Anna Manyambye, told me that the people of Ward 15 were really frigging unhappy. “In this ward,” she said, “the complaints are about corruption. The councillor” – a boilerplate cadre named Joel Masilela – “he just wants money. The Somalis here with the spaza shops, they have to pay what they call a ‘black tax’ to him. I want to tell everyone, we will bring the change in Ward 15.”

He was born and raised in a shack in Atteridgville, earned a BComm in economics at what was then Vista University, married his “one wife” (ha ha), and with her raised two boys in a staunch, devout Christian environment. He has worked his whole life, but officially kicked off his career as an assistant to charge d’affaires in the Liberian embassy, moving swiftly to the American embassy, and then to the Project Literacy NGO, eventually becoming a director.

Working at embassies, Msimanga had an opportunity to travel. He observed other African dictators, and it became apparent to him that our leaders were going the same way.

outh African Sport Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) has announced the biggest ever team to represent the country since its inception into the international sporting area at the 2016 Olympic Games set to take place from 5-12 August in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Team SA will boast a total of 113 crème de la crème of sporting talents, with most of them having represented the country previously on the international stage.

The team will include athletes representing 39 sporting codes, who have all met the set standards to compete at Olympic Games. Athletes such as Caster Semenya, Wenda Nel, Wayde van Niekerk, and Stephen Mokoka have qualified for more than one event but will only concentrate on disciplines of their specialty.

In addition to the track and field athletes, the team will include athletes from other sporting codes which include three team sports namely; Rugby

Sevens, Banyana Banyana women’s football side and the Under-23 Men’s football team, badminton, equestrian, golf, judo, rowing and triathlon.

All medallists will receive R 500 000 for gold, R 250 000 for silver and R 100 000 for bronze. The incentive amount received would be split 80% to the athlete and 20% to the coach of that specific athlete.

By Ofentse Dibetso As part of commemorating the 60th anniversary of 1956 women’s march, Le beauty touch events is organising the first ever women’s fitness day which will be hosted at Temba stadium.

The event is the brainchild of a 22 year old Rorisang Madise from Temba who said the objective of the event is to pay homage to the struggle heroes and to promote healthy

lifestyle amongst women; “60 years ago the mothers, sisters, the wives and the daughters took up and fought against pass laws, so we want to stand up against obesity and unhealthy living.”

“Women who don’t manage to attend women’s day celebration rallies often don’t know how to celebrate the day and some see it as an opportunity to turn-up and partying. We saying there are many ways of celebrating hence we planning on doing

it in a positive way- through sport,” she said Madise said the event is not about competing but uniting women of all races and ages through sport. She said the event is open to women of all ages from both local and afar to take part in the 5km fun walk race and aerobics.

Concentration parmount in Rio -Pauw The South African Senior Women’s National Team, Banyana Banyana, is on the final phase of preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games This stage will be completed with an international friendly match against New Zealand in Brazil on a Thursday, 28 July with the venue still to be confirmed. The Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana is holding their final week-long training camp on home soil.

The Games are scheduled to start on Wednesday, 3 August.

South Africa has already had top class opposition as they continued with preparations for the Olympcs, facing The Netherlands and number one-ranked USA.

Banyana coach Vera Pauw says the New Zealand match is also very crucial; “Every match we play we want to improve, and the New Zealand clash is not different. We want our play to be better than it is now. I wish New Zealand can put us under pressure the way the USA did, and I know they are capable of that because that is their playing style, that is why we wanted to play them, but USA is stronger in the attacking play. Hopefully we can improve on our attack too,” said Pauw.

After going down 1-0 to the USA, the Banyana Banyana mentor is adamant that concentration is also paramount.

Eersterus Downs clinch HALFA

henyo Tlou scored a brace to Eesterus Downs 4-1 victory over Mighty Squad to clinch the 2015/16 Hammanskraal Local Football Association (HALFA) league title in style.

The encounter played at Mmotse Primary School sport grounds in New Eersterus kicked off to a slow start as neither team posed any threats at goals. The deadlock was finally broken in the 21st minute when Daniel Boya’s header gave the visitors the lead.

Tlou attempted to equalise the matters minutes later but his strike went way over Mighty’s goal posts. Vusi Moekoa failed to extend the visitors’ lead when he could not covert his clear chance at goal. By Ofentse Dibetso There were big surprises as 22 teams were eliminated from the first round of the annual Phindamzala Tournament which kickes off recently at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve.

The 32 team tournament saw the defending champions BuyaMsuthu FC suffering a huge blow as they got knocked out of the tournament by Atlegang FC in the first round.

NW ABC Motsepe league champions, Orbit FC did not disappoint as they managed to win group D after beating SodraFC 3-0 in their final group match while their league runners-up,Moretele gunners claimed group C following their 3-0 win over West city fc.

Other teams that topped their group are Nkadimeng FC, Moretlwa FC, Real Madrid FC, Happy boys fc and Beware FC. All matches were played at Giant stadium due to the unavailability of pitches at both Temba and Mandela stadium in Hammanskraal. This served as a bonus for the fans that preferred to have all the games in one venue.

Dol Stars rise to the sky

ondol Stars recently gained promotion to the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League; this comes after they beat Real Barcelona 3-0 to finish at the top of the promotional playoffs table.

After being postponed twice, the playoffs finally took place recently at the North West University’s Vanderbijlpark Campus where five teams battled it out for the promotional spot. The Mamelodi based side finished at the summit of the mini table after reaching 9 points from the available 12 points, winning three games and losing only one against Mofolo BT stars.

Stars team manager, Jonathan Mphahlele, said their plan was to get the first 6 points during the first two games so that it can be a morale booster going into the last two games; “Our second game which was against Boca Juniors was the toughest one as we chased a

2-0 score line to win 3-2.”

Mphahlele emphasized their dream of going to the national first division saying they are not going to ABC Motsepe league just to add numbers and disturb other teams; “We are going there to compete just like the way we did at the SAB league last season, we owe that to our supporters and Mamelodi residents because they have been with us up to this point.”

The side will not be making any changes in their team and will continue using Muckleneuk Stadium for their home matches. Mofolo BT stars will also join Dol stars in the league after finishing on second position with 8 points.
