Hermann Sons Life selected for national documentary Hermann Sons Life is being highlighted in a segment of “Behind the Scenes with Laurence Fishburne” which will air on public television stations across the country starting in May. “Behind the Scenes with Laurence Fishburne” is a series of short documentaries designed to educate and inform people about various topics of interest. Hermann Sons Life was chosen for the segment titled, “Fraternal Organizations: Helping Secure the Future of American Families and Businesses.” The project has taken almost a year to complete. It began last May when President and CEO Eugene Zollinger was informed that Hermann Sons Life had been selected for the segment. Eugene saw the program as an opportunity to spread the word about fraternals in general and Hermann Sons Life in particular. He said, “I jumped at the chance to promote Hermann Sons Life, our commitment to service to our members and the community and my vision for how we can remain sustainable in today’s society.” The Board of Directors approved the project and a team of Home Office staff members worked with Eugene and the production company to write the script for the documentary. A film crew came to San Antonio in mid-September to film at the Home Office. The crew also spent a day at the Camp and Re-

tirement Home. In April, the final versions of the three videos that make up the project were delivered. There is the “Behind the Scenes with Laurence Fishburne” video which will be aired on 200 public television stations across the country starting the week of May 24 and continuing for a year. A 30-second commercial will be aired a total of 50 times in selected Texas cities during peak time and prime time hours on channels such as MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, Fox News, Fox Business

Network, TLC, Travel and Discovery. The final piece is a corporate profile of Hermann Sons Life. This is a longer piece that includes all of the Laurence Fishburne segment plus additional interview segments. “The video does a great job of explaining who we are and what we do,” Eugene said. “We will be using it in various ways to educate and inform people who are unfamiliar with our organization and what it means to be a member-based organiation focused

on service. For example, agents can use it during sales calls. The possibilities are endless.” This video can be viewed by clicking on the link at the bottom of the Hermann Sons Life website home page – hermannsonslife.org. Three speakers are featured in the videos – Eugene, Retired Vice President Mary Beam and Programming Analyst Rebecca Henley, a 20-year member of the Home Office staff. See DOCUMENTARY, Pg. 2
