Fredericksburg Lodge presents membership pins FREDERICKSBURG – Fredericksburg Lodge will meet Aug. 1. A sandwich meal is planned. The social will begin at 6 p.m. followed by supper and the business meeting. Members are asked to bring sandwiches that have been labeled along with a dinner plate and utensils. Contact Hans Enderlin at 830895-2176 or Windy Duecker at 830-997-2983 for more information. Hamburgers and hot dogs were served at the July 11 meeting. During the meeting, representatives of volunteer fire departments in Fredericksburg, Doss and Stonewall were recognized and presented with a monetary donation. Representing the VFDs were Aaron Kuhlmann from Fredericksburg, Jerry Walsh from Doss and Bernice Burg and Brenda Matipick from Stonewall. Other special guests included Mike Beam, a member of the Hermann Sons Life Board of Directors, and his wife, Mary, who recently retired as Vice President of Operations. Brother Beam spoke briefly and then assisted with the awarding of 60- and 70-year membership pins to five of the 31 members eligible to receive pins this year. Wilbert Ransleben of Fredericksburg received his 70-year pin. He has been a member since Sept. 2, 1947.

Sister Kunz is transferring to Boerne Lodge. Margaret Priess reported that a condolence card was sent to Agnes Blanchard. Attendance prizes were awarded to Ronnie Jung and Lola Enderlin. Harmonia Lodge will meet Aug. 10 SAN ANTONIO – Harmonia Lodge wants to remind members about the meeting dates and plans for the remainder of 2017. The Aug. 10 meeting will be held in the Rathskeller. Fried chicken will be provided and members are asked to bring side dishes and desserts. Past presidents will be honored at the Sept. 14 meeting that will be held in the Home Association Ballroom. Spaghetti will be provided and members are asked to bring desserts. Games will be played after the meeting. The lodge’s annual benefit golf tournament will be held
Sept. 30 at The Republic Golf Club. Proceeds from the tournament benefit Camp Discovery, a camp for children with cancer. Volunteers are needed to assist with the event. A German meal will be provided for the Oct. 12 meeting that will be held in the Rathskeller. Members are asked to bring side dishes and/or desserts. The German Band will perform. Snoga’s will cater the traditional turkey meal for the Nov. 9 meeting that will be held in the Home Association Ballroom. Members are asked to bring desserts. held in the Rathskeller. Members are asked to bring side dishes and/or desserts. The 2018 officers will be elected during the meeting. Members are asked to bring unwrapped toys for donation to the Blue Santa Program sponsored by the San Antonio Police Officers Association. Blue Santa himself will attend to accept the donated toys. Comfort plans gatherings COMFORT – Two gatherings are on the calendar for Comfort Lodge in August. On Saturday, Aug. 12, the lodge will take part in a new member event being hosted by area lodges at Hilltop Camp from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Lodge officers are asked to arrive by 10:15 a.m. to help with set up. Postcards have been mailed to new members. There will be a sandwich lunch as well as indoor and outdoor games and a moon bounce. The pool will be open as well. The next lodge meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 14. The social will begin at 5 p.m. and supper will be served at
6:15 p.m. Grandparents will be recognized and are invited to bring their grandchildren to the meeting. There will be games for all ages and a small gift for the grandparents. The lodge’s summer picnic is Sept. 10 at Hilltop Camp. More details will be shared later. The lodge met July 10 at the VFW Hall in Comfort. Members were served a barbecue chicken dinner provided by Connie and David Spenrath.
