MANAGER'S MESSAGE

Mother Nature has really delivered some fantastic weather so far this spring! What a wonderful time of year on this beautiful island we call home.

You may have noticed the extensive tree work that was completed on both courses. These trees were either dead and needed to come down or were trimmed back to allow more sunlight on the grass. After the completion of this project, we were able to apply Tif-Eagle Bermuda sod to some bare areas on select greens. These two spring projects resulted in elevating the golf experience for our members and guests.

We had another sellout crowd for Trivia Night on April 25. Congratulations to our winners, Team Wise Guys Be on the lookout for information on our next Trivia Night scheduled for June 12. I encourage you to join us for Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 12 Reservations can be made by calling Baird’s Pub or on the member portal. You are also invited to join us poolside on Sunday, May 26 for a cookout and live music to celebrate Memorial Day and the kickoff of summer.

The club has been very active this spring. Thank you for your continued support as we continue to elevate the member guest experience.

TURF TALK

y to attend two PGA Tour tournaments in asters and The RBC Heritage Classic. For a attending The Masters is a dream come xceeded every expectation by 100 times hought out, from the moment you step foot on the property until the time you leave Yes, the concessions are as affordable as advertised. I mean, come on, $1.00 for a bottle of water or $3.00 for a BBQ sandwich. I have to admit, the pimento cheese sandwich was my favorite, with the chicken biscuit a close second. Some might wonder, "Why can't our golf course look like that?" One word: money. They prepare that golf course for one week a year, and it has to be perfect which it was. Not a blade of grass out of place, not a single weed, at least none that I could find. They literally have around 75 staff members just for the golf course on a normal day. I would love to have 15 for 36 holes. I walked away completely awestruck, reaffirming that I have chosen the right career path for myself I absolutely love what I do and can't imagine doing anything else. I returned with a renewed determination to make Palmetto Hall the best it can be!

Hope to see you on the course!

PARKER'S POINTERS

“What’s the frequency, Kenneth?”

How often should we practice? Daily, weekly, hourly? And what should we work on, and for how long? Building on last month’s discussion of mental practice, let’s explore some valuable tips for physical practice:

The frequency of practice depends on the individual player, their objectives, and their physical capabilities. It should also take into account both strengths and weaknesses If practice solely focuses on areas needing improvement, it could lead to frustration and negativity. While addressing aspects of our game that require enhancement, intersperse sessions with positive and encouraging moments. For instance, if bunker play proves challenging and progress seems limited, take a break to putt or chip, or engage in an aspect of practice where you excel, to maintain enthusiasm When ready, return to the more challenging areas, possibly in a separate session altogether.

Additionally, approach each shot as if it were in an actual playing situation

Visualize the shot (as discussed last month), follow your pre-shot routine, take a practice swing or two, and then execute the shot Mindlessly hitting balls without purpose is a sure way to exert energy without significant improvement. Every attempt should be approached with the same level of commitment as shots taken on the course Regarding the number of attempts, once proficiency in a particular skill is attained, transition to another skill. However, accept that some days progress may be elusive. Acknowledge this, and if necessary, shift focus to another aspect of practice or activity Avoid forcing the issue, as it could lead to poor habits, frustration, or potential injury. Next month, we will delve into "getting a grip "

Enjoy your practice sessions and keep playing!
