MANAGER'SMESSAGE
It’s here! The Fall season has swiftly arrived, bringing in light breezes, cool temperatures and the absence of humidity. I think most would agree, Fall delivers the best playing conditions throughout the year on the island.
September and October are filled with Member Guest Invitationals, Tournaments and Buddy Trips, making it the second busiest month of the year for golf, not to mention the wedding rehearsals and receptions.
The Concours d’ Elegance and Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival will be zooming its way into November Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club is once again playing host to this prestigious event, marking its 12th year. The entire facility is transformed into a show field exhibiting over 300 cars daily, from all over the world and servicing more than 20k attendees.
If you or someone you know would like to work at the event, please feel free to reach out to your supervisor or manager. We are still looking to fill various positions such as, food servers, cashiers, bartenders and banquet staff.
Thank you for a great summer and appreciate the dedication and hard work preparing for a fabulous fall season.

Good news! Both the Hills and Cupp courses experienced minimal impact from Tropical Storm Debbie, with only some debris, limbs, and a few downed trees. Most of the cleanup was completed, and we awaited confirmation from the tree service for the removal of the downed trees, as they were busy post-storm
Cupp’s aeration, originally scheduled for earlier this month, was rescheduled to August 20-21 due to the storm.
The primary concern after the storm was the rising water levels in the lagoons. We worked closely with the POA to monitor the situation and expedite water movement out of the community as efficiently as possible.
During this busy period, I made an effort to introduce myself to as many members as I could I sincerely appreciated the warm welcome and assistance from the staff throughout the transition.

It's been a great summer at Shipyard Golf Club! Turf quality has significantly improved, and playable surfaces are in excellent shape. After healing from the deep tine aeration on August 1, we ' re ready for the fantastic golfing weather that fall always brings.
Here’s what we accomplished this summer:
Enhanced overall turf quality through additional fertility and cultural practices.
October
Maintained green speeds above 9 throughout the summer.
Laid new sod in key areas to improve playability and aesthetics. Dedicated time and manpower to detail work, including edging, weed eating, and blowing.
Looking ahead, our upcoming plans include:
Reshaping tees and fairways according to the design of each golf hole.
Overseeding tees and fairways on October 31.
Bunker work.
Adding pine straw and mulch.
Continuing tree work.
We’d also like to recognize William Hamilton as Shipyard’s July Employee of the Month William, who grew up in Bluffton, SC, has worked on golf courses in the area for years and does an outstanding job for us at Shipyard If you see him out on the fairway mower, be sure to stop and say hello!
