- Dolly PartonSummer is here! You know the time of year that creates a contagious environment of smiling and happy folk everywhere you go.
Could it be the sunny days, the warm temperatures, or the comfort of spending time with friends and family? I see smiles all year long, but the summer season produces the highest number of visitors to the Island all year. So rather than seeing a gym filled with smiles, I’m seeing a stadium filled with smiles. Many of our summer visitors continue to return every summer.
Why do they come back year after year? It’s the experience, service, and product that each of you provide every day. Our guests enjoy the Southern hospitality and the welcoming smiles they receive the minute they arrive at our clubs. Hearing compliments about our staff, product, and service is like a broken record that never gets old
I’m excited to share some smile worthy news with each of you. The Island courses once again received the Club of the Year Award at this year’s Heritage Golf Group General Manager Conference held in April.Congratulations to each of you for this honor It truly showcases each person’s effort to make every member and guest’s experience remarkable and memorable.

SHRIMPBURGERMIX

FROM THE KITCHEN OF CHEF CURTIS
Ingredients
2 ½ lbs 51/60 Shrimp
4c Panko Breadcrumbs
1 tbsp. Black pepper
½ minced Red Pepper
½ minced Green Pepper
½ cup minced Red Onions
1 tbsp. fresh chopped parsley
2 tbsp of lemon juice
2 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning
1 ½c Milk
3 Whole Eggs
2 tbsp. Shrimp base (optional)
8oz All purpose Flour
Directions
Mix lemon juice, milk, eggs, shrimp base, Old Bay, black pepper, and parsley in a bowl Make sure the shrimp base is dissolved. Take half of the shrimp and blend in a robo blender for 5 seconds, then cut the remaining shrimp into 4 pieces. Place all the shrimp in a bowl with the onions, peppers, and breadcrumbs and mix together Gently fold all wet ingredients and mix them together Add flour Make sure that all ingredients get incorporated Taste a small portion first to make sure the flavor is good and then mix and hold shape

Things are finally green and beginning to grow at Shipyard Golf Club. The course is in good shape and we are looking forward to the summer season. Some of the things we have accomplished recently are: cart path.
Root pruner around the perimeter of each hole
New sod on tees #7 Clipper, #2 Brigantine.
3 wall-to-wall fertilizer applications.
Created a nursery green on #9 Clipper.
Turf quality will be our focus this year as we look to improve the consistency and density of the playable surfaces. We have completed our spring pre-emergent and a wall to wall slow release fertilizer app. We are in a good position moving forward and we are excited for a successful season.

Ruby is our April Employee of the Month for Oyster Reef and LagerHead Tavern

She is a great asset to our food and beverage team and always brings a smile, but this does not even come close to all of the things she does
From running food, helping with front-of-house and back-of-house operations, to taking care of tables. She really does do it all.
We are very fortunate and sincerely thankful to have her. Thank you Ruby.

Ian went above and beyond this month just as he does on a day–to–day basis
Ian covered shifts for employees that were on vacation and helped maintain the fantastic service that our outside team is known for Even in one of our busiest months Ian’s hard work is noticed by everyone, and they know him by name, and always ask if he is here.
