Bringing together the leading charity for hyperemesis gravidarum (HER Foundation) in the United States and the International Colloquium on Hyperemesis Gravidarum (ICHG), this conference has the potential to establish monumental strides in the field of hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) research and encourage gold standard care and treatment
With the date set for two years after the fourth international colloquium held in London, the international HG research community is ready for an update The past four conferences were held in Europe, and we are excited to bring the conference to the United States. With ground-breaking research being performed at the University of Southern California and local highly regarded clinical leaders, the beautiful coastal city of Ventura, California is the ideal location for this meeting of the world’s leading researcher, clinician, and patient collaborative.
The ICHG conference provides an excellent opportunity for organizations to showcase their products and services and enhance their image in this community
Interest in Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) research, care, and treatment has grown exponentially in the last few years This is not just due to the media interest stirred by public experiences of HG including the hospitalization of the Princess of Wales and actress Amy Schumer’s documentary, but also by the dedication and determination of key international figures In 2015, the first ever world colloquium for HG was held in Norway, and key researchers and clinicians came together to form an international collaboration to further the research efforts of all and, ultimately, to benefit the women and families affected by this life-changing condition. Additional conferences held in 2017, 2019, and 2022 have solidified and built on the initial momentum by bringing together researchers, clinicians, hyperemesis charities, and patient advocates in a collaborative setting to advance international understanding of this serious medical condition
Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) is a severe and debilitating disease of pregnancy which affects up to 10% of the pregnant population HG is defined as a potentially life-threatening pregnancy disease that may cause weight loss, malnutrition, dehydration, and debility due to severe nausea and/or vomiting, and may cause long-term health issues for mother and baby(ies) Historical misconceptions suggesting a psychological cause have led to an ongoing stigmatization of those affected by the condition and a subsequent disinterest in HG research until now
To bring together the world’s leading hyperemesis gravidarum researchers, clinicians, hyperemesis charities, and patient advocates for the advancement of scientific research and the promotion of clinical excellence in treating the condition.
To establish the US’s solidarity and position as a nation leading the way for HG research and clinical developments
The United States is leading the way in understanding the condition with ground-breaking genetic research, establishing the country’s position as a world leader for HG progress. The US also has the world’s leading advocacy charity, the Hyperemesis Education and Research (HER) Foundation who has reached over 2 5 million people in 95% of countries in the world since inception in 2000. The HER Foundation provides an extensive informational website, clinical tools, case consultations, a peer support network, support groups, provider education, and a clinician referral network HER is the only charity in the world dedicated to HG and offering support to families across the globe. About a quarter million people each year access HG information and resources through the HER Foundation website, communications, and social media platforms.
To further the advancement of HG research, care, and treatment for the benefit of HG sufferers and their families.
The HER Foundation is the global voice of HG Progress We’re a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides support, groundbreaking research, advocacy, and education on hyperemesis. Since 2000, we have been the leading source of information on HG and have reached over 2 5 million people across the globe
The HER Foundation is here to be a voice of support and education to all who are faced with managing HG Our mission is to provide education, research, support, and advocacy to improve management of HG, so mothers and babies have healthy futures. HER in collaboration with top universities has published many studies establishing the foundational information on HG such as impact and outcomes, and discovered the genetic cause as well.
A dynamic and packed two day conference will see speakers from around the world showcasing their recent work advancing the understanding and treatment of HG.
International speakers will provide updates on research presented at prior conferences and new research will be presented. Researchers will discuss how to achieve novel clinical trials in HG with input from patients and clinicians.
Other sessions will focus on clinical practice and training for doctors, midwives, and allied health professionals. Innovative treatment advances from across the globe will be presented.
Breakout sessions will provide opportunities for smaller workgroup discussions for researchers, clinicians, charities, and patient delegates.
Posters will be displayed on both days and time for presentation will be given An interesting and relevant exhibition of sponsors from the commercial and charity sectors will provide additional interest.
Finally, a packed social program will encourage networking and foster a fun and exciting atmosphere for enthusiastic delegates. An award event will recognize the best poster, and best original research
The Colloquium is the product of a joint venture between ICHG, Hyperemesis Education and Research Foundation, and Ventura County Healthcare Medical Center With Ventura County’s educational support, ICHG and the HER Foundation’s extensive research and clinical networks can draw world renowned researchers and clinicians and key delegates from across the US and abroad, thereby ensuring an exciting and successful event Ventura County Medical Center will provide continuing medical education accreditation and certificates to attendees.
