Share the big news, properly. Announcement etiquette tips. ETIQUETTE TO CELEBRATE IN STYLE Mail graduation announcements to family and friends to share the big news. Some tips for mailing traditional school announcements: TWO ENVELOPES While it might look like you have extras, traditional announcements are sent with both an inner and an outer envelope. OUTER ENVELOPE Address the larger (outer) envelope with the recipient's formal names (i.e. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jones) in blue or black ink. INNER ENVELOPE Address the smaller (inner) envelope with the recipient names as if you were speaking to them (i.e. Grandma and Grandpa) in blue or black ink. PACKAGING THE ANNOUNCEMENT The inner envelope should be inserted into the outer envelope so that when you open the outer envelope flap, you can see the recipient's casual names on the inner envelope. WHEN TO SEND Mail your announcements to arrive two weeks before your graduation date. SPICE IT UP Add a decorative touch and speed up the process of sending out your announcements by adding a returns address label and a class envelope seal. FACE AWAY FROM TEXT If you are including a traditional or personalized party invitation or photo insert, place it inside the envelope and on top of the announcement.
