Holiday Guide 2022

I am writing this letter as we are in a VERY unique period of time.
These past few years have presented a whirlwind of challenges for us cannabis entrepreneurs, brands, and marketers. No matter the circumstances, our unique industry has shown incredible resilience amidst the accelerated pace of change. History has proven that some of the biggest success stories come from troubling times.
From brands to dispensaries to non-profit organizations, the collective fight to break the stigma behind cannabis is well underway - and it’s thanks to the tireless effort of trailblazers like you.
Our industry's consistent success is a result of the plant's therapeutic impact on people combined with the resiliency of those who have fought for legalization for decades. Recreational users and medical patients alike understand the importance of keeping this movement strong to ensure everyone has safe and easy access to this miraculous plant.
We created this guide to give you a glimpse of an evolved side of Herb: Design-forward. Highly curated. Intentional. And always fun.
This elevated aesthetic is for a refined audience like you that appreciates the finer things in life. We exist to reimagine the way the world views cannabis.
Success aside, it's in our power and our moral responsibility to continue raising awareness of the injustices caused by the failed war on drugs. We will not stop until every nonviolent cannabis prisoner is back safe and home to their families. The fight is not over.
This movement is alive thanks to your support. Herb is thrilled to have you onboard for the journey. Wishing you and your family an unbelievable 2023,
Matt Gray Founder and CEO YouTubeHerb is here for you. We are committed to sharing the medicinal and recreational benefits of cannabis while guiding you toward tailored experiences that achieve your desired state of wellness.

Victoria Pfeifer, Jennifer Gurton Head Of Content, HerbCalifornia-born Utah-raised cake expert Paulette Goto grew up as a forced Jehovah's Witness under the watch of an abusive mother and was never allowed to celebrate birthdays.
The lack of holidays, school functions, and general fun of her experience as a JW meant she had to find joy outside the home, like smoking weed and doing LSD.
She eventually moved in with a friend, David, and his parents, who made Paulette her first birthday cake at 17. From there, she knew cakes were her calling.
For her big break, a co-owner of @astorclubnyc invited Paulette to a dinner event and asked her to make a cake for a special guest of honor. The guest? None other than Berner, rapper, and founder of the world's first legal cannabis empire, Cookies.
And these aren't your typical cookie-cutter happy birthday cakes. "I love and live for the juxtaposition of a beautiful cake with 'congrats, you're kind of a cunt' written on it," says Goto.
Paulette, we couldn't be more honored to share your story and feature a custom Herb cake in our Holiday Gift Guide.

"Once you start the journey with this plant, she takes you for the ride."
For actor, musician, and comedian Jim Belushi, cannabis is personal.
In terms of his relationship with the plant, Belushi says that cannabis heals his traumas. He believes growing the plant is his “mission from God.”
His brother, the late John Belushi, died from a drug overdose in 1982. Jim knew his brother struggled with addiction and writes, “if my brother John was a pothead, he’d still be with us today.”
It was totally by accident. I bought a beautiful property next to the Rogue River in Southern Oregon, which to my surprise, is in an area called the “banana belt.” There is an area shaped like a big banana leaf that is the perfect vortex for growing pinot, pears, and cannabis. The 80-acre farm behind me came up for sale, I bought it, and I thought, “What the hell do I grow now?”
Cannabis became legal in the state of Oregon, and I thought, “A-HA! The new agriculture.” I talked to Dan Aykroyd about the idea, and he introduced me to Captain Jack, the old weed dealer for Saturday Night Live, who had a strain that he brought back from the bottom of the Kush Mountains in 1972. I began to grow Captain Jack’s strain. Once you start the journey with this plant, she takes you for the ride. And now I have four light-deprivation greenhouses and produce 1600 pounds a year, and we are expanding into other states- Colorado and Oklahoma. But I did do one movie this year. I am still an actor! Kind of. Actor/Farmer.
Having his own weed farm might seem like enough, but Jim Belushi’s cannabis advocacy efforts stretch far wider than that.
Everybody knows somebody who is struggling. Everybody. Whether it’s parents with dementia or Alzheimer’s, arthritis, friends with serious trauma and PTSD, people who can’t sleep, or people suffering from seizures. Especially the opiate addict. Severe illness and drug-related deaths, car accidents, overdoses, epilepsy… these ailments and events collapse families, who continue to perpetuate the trauma. Everybody needs medicine somehow to treat everything from pulled muscles to hospice. This plant offers a pathway to soothing and healing all these traumas.
It’s safer than pharmaceuticals and alcohol consumption. I believe that if my brother John was a pothead, he’d be alive today. I believe in the power of healing of this plant. I’m not saying there aren’t positive and effective pharmaceutical drugs out there, and I’m not saying not to have a drink once in a while.
But I am saying that when you use those medicines to excess because of the excessive struggle that you live with, it sneaks into a family like a snake and slowly strangles until somebody dies, like my brother John. Why did I start in cannabis? For so many reasons. But I guess the number one fear in life is death and the number two fear in life is the collapse of family.
I come from a collapsed family. I come from that trauma. This plant has helped soothe my own PTSD. I hear stories and see stories every day of other families for whom this plant has helped put on a pathway to healing.
The family that we have created on the farm. The sense of camaraderie, the feeling that we’re all doing something that helps others, and of course, being close to the ground, hands in the soil, sun on our faces. It literally and figuratively keeps you grounded. In the world we live in today, that is one of the benefits of farming.
What has been the most rewarding part of your farming endeavor?
Although the TSA is a federal agency, flying with weed is possible. Run by the Department of Homeland Security, the TSA is not looking for your weed, edibles, or even concentrates.
The TSA is looking for weapons, bombs, and anything else that could endanger people. While they're not looking for you, it helps if your cannabis products are discreet, so nobody bats an eye. Just make sure you know the local laws of where you travel to and from. Use your best judgment and safe travels!

is a cannabis brand done right.
Khalifa Kush Wiz Khalifa
It wasn’t too long ago that rapper started topping the charts. Songs like “Black And Yellow” put Khalifa on the map as a new rapper with a story to tell.
On that same album, Rolling Papers, Wiz released “Roll Up,” an anthem for my young stoner self, who had this track on repeat throughout high school. There was a pattern in Wiz’s music, one that pointed toward the rapper’s love for weed.
weed-loving rappers
Although we’ve seen other come and go, Wiz is here to stay. He’s currently on a mission to help the world smoke better weed through his brand, Khalifa Kush.
Wiz kept the Khalifa Kush strain a secret until 2014, when he officially launched the Khalifa Kush flower at Tryke’s Reef Dispensaries in 2016.
As mentioned, Khalifa Kush strains are all grown for the gang. The brand feels like its own niche cannabis community, centered around themes of music, wellness, creativity, and simply smoking better weed.
No one deserves to smoke bush in the age of legalization. At Khalifa Kush, you’ll smoke the same weed that helped Wiz evolve from a typical stoner to a cannabis connoisseur. The Khalifa Kush brand has proudly evolved into one of North America’s most trustworthy and popular brands.
The brand also carries other heavy-hitting products, including: Flower, Pre-Rolls, Vapes, Concentrates, Edibles.
Many of us dream of launching a successful cannabis brand, but only a few make it a reality.
Maybe you look up to brands like Khalifa Kush for their stellar branding, unmatched flower, and commitment to helping the world smoke better weed.
Wiz firmly believes that launching a successful cannabis business starts with building a solid team. Once you’ve found those key players who reflect similar values and strive for the same outcome, only then can you focus on establishing your brand.
With hard work, dedication, and a clear vision to elevate the cannabis community, Wiz believes you can do anything you set your mind to.

Wherever the NELK boys would go, a crowd of loyal fans would follow. For the last seven-odd years, the YouTube channel and entertainment company has built one of North America's most notable and recognized brands.
Co-founder of NELK, Jesse Sebastiani, recently announced his exit after fans noticed his lack of appearances on camera. That's because Sebastiani put himself in the background, doing things like sourcing and producing the FULL SEND apparel.
He has a profound passion for directing, producing, and finding oncamera talent. Now, he's moving onward and upward. Sebastiani recently launched his new network and creative agency Sunday.
While NELK had huge Friday energy with parties and pranks, FULL SEND represented the second send of the weekend, where you're still going hard and not ready to pack up just yet. Finally, that brings us to Sunday, a cool, calm, and collected vibe that symbolizes Sebastiani prioritizing his health and being sober for two years.
The gears are constantly turning for Sebastiani. He's eager to begin this new phase of his life with an agency and in-house brands that reflect his passions, goals, and lifestyle. Consider Sunday the representation of his evolving journey to becoming the greatest version of himself.
Sunday Studios's in-house brand Sunday is giving away its first ever drop in person this holiday season. For exclusive details regarding time and location, sign up at bloodysunday.com.
“With a creative business like this, it's hard to shut that creative or building mindset off. Weed helps with that a lot.”
Appreciate it! I wouldn't say it was a case of being inspired to start something on my own, just more of a personal choice to have full creative freedom to work on products and develop projects that I would be excited to create again. The starting point of building a brand is my favorite part. Change doesn't scare me. It's exciting. Couldn't be happier.
It's heavy but in a good way. I'm drowning a bit, overwhelmed with projects and getting things running to make this company profitable, but again that's the fun part. Day-to-day is your basic grind story. This is a job. It is seven days a week. It's nonstop wake up, go for a run, train MMA and then tackle the schedule for the day. I and my small but strong team all believe in the vision and are living and breathing the format to build the foundation. If I had to pick one project out of the many that excite me the most, it would probably be the animation series "Late Night With Billy Buck" or the Pantone catalog of products under Sunday. I have never created anything in animation before, so it's a new medium. For the Sunday catalog, I created this system around the Pantone that kind of gives building the catalog and releasing product meaning together, which for me was super important, so each silhouette added and each sale of a Sunday product can be part of the story as we will never drop that same product again in that Pantone.
The main thing they should know, especially if you're a fan of my past projects/brands etc. Is NOTHING. This is completely new. Its the beginning stages of a totally new me and a totally new brand, and I'm not trying to make it anything nor trying to make it more attractive to a fan base I may already have, Im looking at this like I'm 15 years old selling hoodies out of my locker, asking myself what do I want to create. If I had to say, though, the vibe of Sunday is slower for sure if we're talking about my lifestyle change personally, then Yes, I haven't drank alcohol in two years, but I do enjoy the odd joint at night, helps me sleep and relax my brain sometimes. Sometimes with a creative business like this, it's hard to shut that creative or building mindset off. Weed helps with that a lot.
What should new and loyal fans know about your company's vibe, mission, and values? Would you say Sunday's lifestyle is more geared toward the cannabis user than the Friday night boozer?
What is your day-to-day
are you most excited to be working
Congratulations on launching Sunday! When did you first feel inspired to depart from NELK and create the company?
Yes, we have roughly 40 different SKUs in development ATM, building out six months in advance all the collections so that we can actually save time to creatively build out the marketing plans/events/lookbooks, etc. As for weed-related accessories, let's save a few SKUs for a Herb x Sunday release.
I can't tell you a type of strain as I'm more of I’ll smoke any weed that someone passes me kinda guy, but I can describe a perfect chill Sunday for me. It would probably have to start with a nice hot flat white coffee, oat milk, and a shot of vanilla, followed up by a nice South Bay boardwalk bike ride, maybe a podcast on the way. Lastly, a miracle in LA, but it starts raining at the pad while enjoying some good film and good weed.
They're going to get hopefully a refreshing creative full or purpose brand. I don't exactly have to make moves anymore based on financial gain, don't get me wrong, I want to build a healthy, profitable company, but everything we do here will have a purpose, or else I wouldn't be doing this. Products, in-house brands, clients brands, shows, movies, events, it's all coming. I miss the days when brands were actually cool because of what they actually did for the culture. Back when I was a kid, my local skate shop was "cool" because they threw the "throw down in O town" skateboard contests every year. They were cool because you walked in there and saw the sponsored riders that were the best in my town. I'm bringing this up because I think a lot of brands nowadays live off of numbers. Everything is a meta ad or influencer making you buy a product. This process I'm doing right now with you is "cool" to me. I love this. When I was a kid, I used to read the articles in the Thrasher skateboard mags and actually get to feel or hear out someone I looked up to. I just want to bring back real substance in a brand, real reasons for a fan base to grow and follow the story.
What should fans expect from Sunday in 2023? What's next for you?
We noticed a teaser on Sunday's IG page featuring everyday products like lighters with your Sunday branding. Might you dabble in more accessories for smokers and weed lovers?

"My relationship with this plant is generational."
Rohan Marley doesn't just carry his father's legacy but carves a new path for herb lovers everywhere. His roots luxury brand, Lion Order, is a true reflection of the contemporary cannabis advocate who adorns their altar with accessories that let them puff with confidence.
Lion Order is equally passionate about the future of ritualistic consumption as they are about the history of Rastafari culture rooted in Jamaica. Expect nothing less than vintage, artful, and sophisticated designs that evoke a higher consciousness and return you to your life purpose.
After all, "Herb is the healing of a nation." - Bob Marley
My legacy is to create something that brings people together. Unity drives me. That’s why I created the movement LION ORDER. Roots Luxury is a mindset and the commitment to living your truth. That we can respect our Roots and still enjoy the finer things in life. Roots Luxury is growing up in Jamaica and watching a Rastaman smoking a spliff sitting on the hood of a BMW.
My relationship with this plant is generational. I grew up eating seeds off of my Father’s surry board and smoking the chalice at age 7. Sitting in the circle with all the elders. This is my life. My father’s mission was to spread unity and oneness. This is my way to sustain the mission.
In terms of your experience with the herb, what does this plant mean to you? How does it help align you with your greater purpose?
What inspired you to launch a roots luxury brand that preserves your cultural roots while elevating the herb experience with luxurious items?
As we develop our proprietary genetics, it all comes through I. Everything I share with you, I share with my family. We eat together. When I pre-pull, I want to taste those notes, those terpenes. We want to taste the Herb before the fire with all those aromas. Especially as we work on perfecting our strains. We collaborate with Heavyweight Heads, who consistently grow the best herb I know of. They are committed to the same standards of excellence as we are from the pre-pull to the exhale.
Why is pre-pulling a joint important to you? Does this help you predict your experience with certain strains?
We plan to collaborate often. The spirit of the universe is collaborative. We would love to work with brands in many spaces and already have a few partnerships in the works. We love KITH, 45 RPM, S.T. Dupont. We look for alignment, shared values, and above all - quality.
We use our artwork to tell a very specific story of the Jamaican Herb culture I experienced as a child in the 1970s. For example, our Indica dominant strain ROADBLOCK is a day in the life of the Rastaman living his normal life in Jamaica, facing what he faces for just a little bit of Herb. We were the movers and cultivators when they told us we were breaking the law. The Coptic movement in Jamaica in the 70s was the first legalized movement. These events are so important to the culture. The Herb is a sacrament. A way of life. This is the story of LION ORDER. Rastafari. What accessories or apparel are you most excited to launch in 2023? What should we expect from Lion Order?
We put a lot of importance on having the best flower, and the best accessories for their storage, preparation, and consumption. LION ORDER accessories are going to be thoughtfully designed art objects. Pieces to be proud of, with permanence, that is useful, practical, and beautiful. Pieces like the S.T. Dupont lighter I use every day. While the accessory category is evolving, we will make our mark creating truly elevated pieces for the sophisticated connoisseur.
Are there any brands you'd like to collaborate with in the future? What do you look for in a brand when looking to collaborate?
Why is an artwork such an integral part of Lion Order? How does your brand's artful packaging elevate the user's experience?
Stepping into the world of psychedelics doesn't have to be intimidating. Instead of dosing to trip, many individuals care more about their overall wellness and finding an experience that helps them feel their best.
