It’s with bittersweet emotions that we proudly welcome the USAF A-10 Thunderbolt II Demo Team to the 2024 Moses Lake Airshow. We’ve been fortunate to host this incredible team before and are thrilled to do so again, but we are sad to say that this will be the last time. Earlier this year, the Team announced that 2024 would be the final season for the A-10 Demo.
This of course adds another special element to this year’s show, as everyone who walks through our gates will have the chance say they got to see the Warthog on its farewell tour.
The A-10 comes to us from its home at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and has been a fan favorite at air shows across the country for decades. While we are saddened to see it retired, we consider ourselves one of the luckiest shows in the country to see it soar one last time.
After taking its first flight in 1991, The C-17 Globemaster III was delivered to Joint Charleson Air Force Base in 1993. After two years of tests, it was declared operationally ready in 1995. This massive aircraft was tasked with the job of transporting equipment, supplies, and troops all over the world. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 585,000 pounds and flies as fast as 590mph. The C-17 can land on a small airfield in 3,000 feet or less.
• It can haul the Army’s main battle take the M-1 Abrams, or three combat-ready Stryker Vehicles, or six Guardian Armored Security Vehicles
• It holds 33 world records – more than any airlifter in history
The KC-135 Stratotanker provides the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force and has excelled in this role for more than 60 years. This unique asset enhances the Air Force’s capability to accomplish its primary mission of global reach. It also provides aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft.
The KC-135 is also capable of transporting litter and ambulatory patients using patient support system can hold a mixed load of passengers and cargo. Depending on fuel storage configuration, the KC-135 can carry up to 83,000 pounds of cargo.
Nearly all internal fuel can be pumped through the flying boom, the KC-135’s primary fuel transfer method. One crewmember, known as the boom operator, is stationed in the rear of the plane and controls the boom during in-flight air refueling.
A breakout star in the airshow industry, Brad has logged nearly 4000 hours in 50 different types of aircraft. The highlight of Brad’s career has been performing at airshows, and teaching youth about flying. Whether thrilling fans with an insane and jaw-dropping airshow display, or pushing the limits on one of his RC airplanes, Brad can usually be found near some kind of aircraft. His MXS is a single seat, carbon fiber aircraft. With immediate presence both dynamically and statically, the MXS is a site to behold both in the air and on the ground.
David Costa has made a name for himself in the air show industry in a myriad of ways, but they all share a common theme – passion for aviation. Flying under the imposing and catchy pseudonym “RenegadeAV8R”, David will be performing in his TS-11 Iskra which is sporting fresh new paint! The Iskra has a 50 year active duty history with both the Indian and Polish forces, and the RenegadeAV8R is set to wow and inspire our fans with what he can do both inside and outside of this awesome jet.
You could say Jon’s aviation career began at age 8 when he jumped off the roof into a giant pile of leaves to experience some sort of flight. Then at age 12 he attended his first air show, and flying bug had officially stuck. He took his first solo glider flight at 15, and bought his first plane at 19. The most significant stepping stone for us was in 2001 when officially became a certified air show performer. Since then, Jon has starred in a tv show, written a book and a few years ago he founded FearBOSS. Now he and his gorgeous biplane are going to wow the crowds at Moses Lake.
Mini Jet Airshows was a lifelong dream of Tom Larkin. Tom has over 10,000 hours total time in over 55 different aircraft, with 8,000 of those hours being in jets. Mini Jet Airshows features a SubSonex Jet (JSK003), from the SubSonex factory in Oshkosh, WI. This Experimental Jet was the first kit of its kind ever sold and flown. It can go up to 300 mph and is fully aerobatic. During the show Tom will perform a cross section of maneuvers that he used to do while instructing flying fighters in the Air Force.
Mark Peterson started flying at the age of six in a Piper Cherokee Arrow. He soloed at the age of 16 and received his private pilot’s license at the age of 17. He has flown over 35 different types of aircraft and has thousands of hours of flight time. The A-37B Dragonfly was an addition to Mark’s airshow season in 2020.
In 1967, the USAF ordered 39 T-37Bs into A-37As and then sent 25 to Southeast Asia for combat evaluation. They primarily flew close ai support, night interdiction, and forward air control missions. Due to the successful results the USAF ordered new and improved A-37Bs to be built. The A-37Bs remained in service from 1967 until the last one was retired in 1992.
Born November, 1971 and raised in Japan, he moved to the U.S. in search of a new challenge and dream of being an aviator. Yuichi made his first flight in 1992 and has accumulated over 7,000 hours as an aerobatic flight instructor, traffic watch pilot, cargo pilot and glider pilot. He is an unlimited category competitor, and flies airshow performance flights in the United States and Japan. With more than 10 years of competition aerobatic flying experience, Yuichi’s precise flying and dynamic style make his classic Pitts S-2S dance across the sky.
Undaunted Airshows is a Pacific Northwest airshow team that goes by the call sign “Orca Flight.” Stephen Christopher and Todd Rudberg make up this two-ship formation/aerobatic team. Their demonstrations include fluid aerobatic formation flying, dynamic head-to-head passes and impossible rejoin sequences. Stephen flies the Red and White side by side RV7, while Todd flies the orange and white RV8 Fastback.
Donna Flynn started in aviation when she obtained her private license in the winter of 1987. She soon followed with a commercial license in 1989. While working through her licenses she caught the airshow bug while volunteering at the Vanderhoof International Airshow. Working on the flight operations side of the show, she was involved in other interesting projects including Joann Osterud’s inverted flight records.
Donna has completed over 400 show and media days at over 40 sites in Canada and the United States. She has worked with all the North American jet and skydiving teams.
Derek Allen hails from the Rubber Capital of the World, Akron, OH. Growing up, he wasn’t surrounded by aviation; instead, he shone on the theater stage and excelled in multiple sports.
In July 2004, Derek took off on a new adventure by joining the Air Force. Fast forward to February 2025, and he’ll be touching down into retirement. During his illustrious career, he maintained F-16 Fighting Falcons and A-10 Thunderbolt IIs, including a role as the Superintendent of the A-10 Demonstration Team, where he not only handled maintenance, equipment, and aircraft movement, but also became the voice of the team. His narrations captivated audiences all over.
His business Attack Kid Productions is named after his son Noah, the ATTACK KID!!
As a seasoned aerobatic pilot, he performs stunning demonstrations in his TS-11 Iskra Jet and hosts the popular “The RenegadeAV8R” show. The mission of RenegadeAV8R is to inspire everyone to find their passion and purpose. Airshows demonstrate excellence. Excellence is something that we all can control, regardless of the obstacles we face.
With a passion for aviation dating back to the 1970s and a background in the United States Marine Corps, David is committed to sharing his love of flight and encouraging others to pursue their passions.
America’s First Corps Band, officially referred to as the 56th Army Band, is a Military band that consists of the service members from the Army’s I corps in the U.S. Army Forces Command. It is the only army band in the Pacific Northwest. It was originally founded in 1938. It spent many years getting moved around, before getting reassigned in 1991 to Joint Base Lewis-McCord and officially reactivated in 1994. Today, they perform throughout the Tacoma community for schools and events.
Similar to the World RC Invitational, this brand new addition to the Moses Lake Airshow is a show within the show. National STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) represents a competitive series designed for pilots across the nation. Pilots compete in multiple events throughout the year, accumulating points towards an Annual Championship. While proficiency in short takeoffs and landings is typically associated with bush pilots navigating backcountry terrain, it is a skill that all aviators can and should refine, ensuring their competitions are accessible to anyone involved in general aviation as they aim to accomplish their mission: introduce the excitement of general aviation to a nationwide audience, challenge pilots to better themselves, and foster the next generation of aviators.
The Moses Lake Airshow is the 4th leg in the series, and all competitions are available to stream live. Learn more at NationalSTOL.com.
Laying a solid foundation is such a huge part of any successful endeavor, and in terms of this new Invitational event, we took that both literally and figuratively. Over the last two years – with the tremendous support of Inland Tarp and AEI – we were able to build a permanent ramp for RC (radio controlled) aircraft to perform.
We’ve taken that introduction up quite a few notches this year, and are thrilled to introduce The World RC Invitational at Moses Lake by welcoming some of the best RC pilots flying today to Moses Lake where they will show our fans what RC is all about. Many of today’s best airshow aerobatic performers got their start and honed their aviation skills by flying RC aircraft. Be sure to catch site of the magic as part of your Moses Lake Airshow experience.
The Moses Lake Airshow is honored to welcome Veterans from all over Washington and beyond to our 2024 event.
We are genuinely grateful to each and every man and woman who have served our country, and we aim to make our show a welcoming place for you to enjoy the company of fellow veterans and learn more about veteran organizations.
The Veterans Hospitality Chalet will feature the organizations below within one common tent space, providing an area for you to find connection, share stories and enjoy the event.
