THE POINT

RADICAL RE-DESIGN OF ONE OF SEAPOINT’S SOCIO- ECONOMIC EX-LIBRIS, THE MAIN ROAD CHECKERS SUPERMARKET

Checkers in Seapoint on Regent Road was a vital commercial and social center To upgrade, the old structure was demolished for a new one with a larger Checkers, four underground parking levels, and additional services (shops, restaurants, banks, gym, and medical practices above)

Zoning constraints and Seapoint's unique building fabric and history influenced the project The building successfully embraced its surroundings, maintained its distinctiveness, and embodied a fresh, modern urban future.

BLUE-CHIP CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS FOR NATIONAL WEALTH MANAGEMENT COMPANY

Citadel, a renowned financial services provider, sought a prestigious Cape Town headquarters near Cavendish Square. The building had to convey wealth and security. Challenges included site dimensions and height restrictions. A generic glass box design was unfit, as it lacked character and visibility.

To achieve a commanding presence, granite cladding was used. This choice merged bold, retrofuturistic elements with the timeless quality of the enveloping granite, elevating the firm's name. The result: a captivating synthesis radiating power, leaving a lasting architectural impression.

Garden Cities, a key housing developer in Cape Town since the 1930s, has promoted housing development, starting with Pinelands as a model neighbourhood. They have extended their influence north of Cape Town's CBD, emphasizing the development of complete suburbs and infrastructure Jakupa Architects and Urban Designers assess the vision for Berkshire Boulevard in Sunningdale to create an Urban Design Vision.
