De Kunsthal Rotterdam Presentation showing the works of Rotterdamse Artist, Designer and Photographer Henk Elenga The tree is in the yard of farm of Ary Barendregt,Veerweg, Rhoon; de Portlandhoeve. A monumental building 1803. The farm is known by the story that refers Napoleon taking the ferry (Crossing de Oude Maas river) between Rhoon and Goidschalxoord. Often he traveled by boat on the waterways, otherwise on horseback or by carriage, usually with a military escort.

A part of the journey made together with the young Empress Marie Louise, Therefore known as the ‘Napoleon route’ as he pass on his way this farm on his visit to Rotterdam.
