Designed as a research hub for agriculture and urban farming, this office building emphasizes community engagement by integrating a green slope that connects the neighborhood with experts, fostering interaction and collaboration. Rather than being a purely private sector space, the project encourages sustainable practices through vegetation, urban agriculture areas, and shared spaces that promote innovation and food production. Developed within the Sustainable Building Technologies Studio, the design incorporates passive and active strategies, including sustainable materials, high-performance insulation, and heat recovery systems, ensuring energy efficiency and thermal comfort while reinforcing a future-forward and environmentally responsible approach.

2. Sloped Green Volume Proposal: To foster community engagement, we introduced a green inclined slab facing the main street, enhancing the connection between the public and the building.

3. Functional and Accessible Slope: By incorporating steps, terraces, and gathering areas, the slope was transformed into a vibrant, multi-functional space, while strategic openings enhance natural lighting and usability.

4. Green Canopy Addition: A seasonal green canopy was introduced over the public slope, offering shade in summer while allowing sunlight in winter, enhancing both comfort and usability.

•Building Technology (Daylight Analysis): Objective: Daylight simulations were performed to optimize spatial daylight autonomy (sDA) and reduce annual sunlight exposure (ASE), thus improving visual comfort and energy efficiency.

Methodology: 1. Individual analysis of key occupied spaces from 8 AM to 6 PM (DST).

2. Workplane height: 80 cm, sensor spacing: 1 m.

3.Alternativesexploredincludedglazingratios,verticalshading,greencanopies,andtreeplacements.

4. Glare and quality view assessments complemented daylight studies.

Design Interventions: 1. East façade: Operable mesh shading panels (50% transmissivity).

2. West façade: Setback balconies and greenery for glare control.

3. Strategic placement of vegetation and shading to enhance daylight quality.

Selected Outcome: The optimal solutions balanced daylight autonomy (sDA ≥ 50%) and minimized excessive sunlight exposure (ASE ≤ 10%) effectively across all primary spaces.

Selected Daylight Analysis Example: Innovative Office and Co-working Area (First Floor) This space clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of shading strategies (vertical shading at different depths and angles) in achieving optimal balance between daylight autonomy (sDA) and sunlight exposure (ASE). The selected alternative significantly reduced glare and enhanced visual comfort.

The San Cristoforo project aims to create a harmonious and sustainable urban environment in Milan by reactivating and integrating the historic Navigli Canal into the daily life of the city.

By enhancing local ecosystems, expanding green spaces, and improving public areas, the project supports both environmental well-being and the quality of life for residents. It promotes accessibility through walkable and inclusive design, encouraging sustainable mobility and a stronger connection between people and nature. With an emphasis on innovative urban planning and community engagement, San Cristoforo not only fosters social interaction but also strengthens Milan’s capacity to adapt to future environmental and social challenges.

Ultimately, it shapes a more inclusive, vibrant, and eco-conscious cityscape for generations to come.

•Concept: The Aldo Rossi renovation project is seamlessly integrated into an ecological site dedicated to environmental sustainability, health, and resident well-being.

Designed as a natural extension of its surroundings, the basement and ground floor feature a mix of local shops, restaurants, coworking spaces, and a versatile area for activities such as yoga classes, creating a dynamic and engaging urban environment.

Rooted in the principles of co-housing, the project fosters a strong sense of community and collaboration by incorporating numerous communal green spaces within the residential area.

These shared spaces not only enhance social interaction but also strengthen the connection between residents and nature, promoting a more sustainable and inclusive way of living.

This project explores the relationship between architecture and urban context, focusing on urban morphology, spatial organization, and environmental performance to develop a balanced design methodology that integrates architectural quality, engineering constraints, and social-environmental needs. Centered on social housing, the design incorporates shared spaces and services to reduce apartment costs, conserve energy, and encourage community interaction. The ground floor features communal amenities such as laundries, gyms, restaurants, cafes, shops, and entertainment areas, accessible to both residents and the public to enhance neighborhood engagement. Additionally, open green spaces and community gardens improve spatial quality and social connections, fostering an affordable, sustainable, and vibrant living environment.

•Design Process: 1. Particle Collision and Rainwater Simulation Analyzing rainfall data, we optimized pond size and placement to improve water management, support biodiversity, and provide communal seating in dry seasons.

•Concept: The historic city of Yazd, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s first adobe city, holds immense cultural and architectural significance. Yet, like many historic urban fabrics in Iran, it faces growing threats from neglect, unregulated development, and a disconnect with contemporary urban needs.

Preserving Yazd’s rich heritage requires thoughtful interventions that respect its identity while adapting to current demands.

This thesis proposes the design of an eco-lodge as a culturally sensitive alternative to conventional hotels. By incorporating local architectural elements and traditional spatial patterns, the project aims to create an authentic environment that welcomes visitors while fostering cultural exchange. The design aspires to contribute to the sustainable revitalization of Yazd’s historic core, bridging the past and present through architecture.

School buildings play a crucial role in shaping the future of society by providing a space where children are encouraged to reach their full potential in various skills. These environments not only support academic learning but also foster social, cultural, and economic development.

A well-designed learning environment has a significant impact on children’s health, development, and personality. It influences their ability to focus, engage, and grow in a positive direction. Creating safe, inspiring, and supportive educational spaces ensures that students thrive both intellectually and emotionally, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to the world.

Technical Design Studio

•Concept: Localism guided the entire design approach, emphasizing a meaningful relationship between the learning spaces and the surrounding neighborhood. Recognizing the vital role outdoor spaces play in children’s physical health and growth, particular attention was given to promoting gross motor activities, such as running and jumping. Recent studies highlight a concerning drop in these activities among children, linking this trend to rising obesity rates. To address this, the rooftop was intentionally designed as a flat, green recreational area to encourage active play. Moreover, contemporary educational spaces should foster positive interactions between students and local residents. Reflecting this vision, the project incorporates three amphitheater-like open spaces, balancing semi-public and private interactions within the learning environment.

There is an entrance for pedestrians on the upper side of the project.

Green Roof and Green ramp:

Green roof and ramp

Using an extensive green roof due to its lightweight and the ability to expand on vast surfaces, as well as the use of rainwater, is for achieving the sustainable goals. It has been tried that students from this age have a constructive interaction with nature to help them grow and learn.

Open-Amphitheaters:

There are two main open-amphitheaters, one of them is semi-public and the other in the central core is private and only for students.

Second Level

The Main Exterior Vertical Circulation:

This stair provides a connection between two open-amphitheaters in two different height Levels.

First Level

Green Terraces:

Two main green terraces which provide a proper environment for interaction.

Children’s Classes:

Two of the classes, are provided for children’s growth and learning.

Ground Level

Entrances:

There are two entrances for pedestrians and one entrance for both cars and Pedestrians.

Structure:

Structure

There are four structural zones, A and D are concrete structure, B and C are steel structure. The most chalenging part of the structure. is the 8 meteres cantilever structure in zone B that we tries to solve the problem with appropriate solutions.

The First Encounter Scenario!

First, at the entrance of the upper part, the project is a green landscape from the observer’s point of view with introverted holes on it. The aim is to maintain the pure skyline in front of the building which is hills and river results in attracting people to watch this picturesque landscape.

But at the entrance of the lower part, the issue is the opposite; an encounter with the completely extroverted side of the project with an open-amphitheater that provides communication and interaction between residents and students.

Addiction is one of the major challenges facing human societies, often leading to the spread of physical illnesses and other social issues. One of the key responsibilities of a community is to support and encourage addicts to seek treatment and reintegrate into society.

A crucial aspect of addressing this issue is the design of specialized addiction treatment centers that are purpose-built to facilitate comprehensive rehabilitation. By integrating environmental psychology and principles based on human mental and emotional needs, these centers can enhance both the physical and psychological recovery process. Thoughtfully designed spaces can create a healing environment, helping individuals recover more effectively while fostering a sense of well-being and social reintegration.

•Concept: With various functional spaces in the project, ensuring smooth communication between them is a key design goal. The building concept as a bridge was developed to connect sports, educational, residential, therapeutic, entrance, and laboratory spaces within three distinct masses, ensuring easy access to each section.

Additionally, green spaces have been thoughtfully integrated throughout the design, appearing in courtyards, terraces, and atriums, enhancing both the aesthetic and environmental quality of the project.

•Introducing Spaces:

•Executive Details: 1. Choosing the brick material for the facade, according to the type of climate (hot and dry) and suitability for this type of use.

2. Considering a wooden roof louver (suitable for brick) on the front that has a dominant and favorable light.

3. Creating semiopen arches using materials such as clay and mud at the entrance of the building.
