Landlord isor isnotawarethatthedwellingyouarerenting islocatedina100-yearfloodplain.Ifneitherboxischecked,youshouldassumethedwelling isina100-yearfloodplain.Evenifthedwellingisnotina100-yearfloodplain,thedwelling maystillbesusceptibletoflooding.TheFederalEmergencyManagementAgency(FEMA) maintainsafloodmaponitsInternetwebsitethatissearchablebyaddress,atnocost,to determineifadwellingislocatedinafloodhazardarea.Mosttenantinsurancepoliciesdonot coverdamagesorlossincurredinaflood.Youshouldseekinsurancecoveragethatwould coverlossescausedbyaflood.
