Live a Good Story
A follow-up is a story that builds on an earlier event. Last April, Hendricks County was touched by our nation’s unfathomable trend of mass shootings. Eight people died in a shooting at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis. Among the victims was Matthew R. Alexander, 32, an Avon High MATTHEW ALEXLANDER ________________________ School graduate. In this issue is a follow-up to Matthew’s story, one that didn’t end with his death, but has continued through the strength of his family and the generosity of the community. While such a senseless incident leaves a pain that never really heals for the loved ones involved, it does present the community with the opportunity to support them and honor the one that they lost. It shouldn’t take a tragedy to make us aware of the people who make a difference in our lives or to show them our appreciation while they are still with us. We can, as the Alexander family’s message shares, “Live a good story” and make the world a better place in countless ways, both large and small. See Melissa Gibson’s story on the community’s celebration of Matt’s life on page 9 of this issue. ______________________________________________
