Town Council Discusses Virtual Attendance Policy

To be, or to be virtual - that was the question tackled by the Danville Town Council at the June 2 meeting.

With the Governor’s emergency proclamation concerning the use of electronic means of communication by members of governmental bodies during the COVID-19 pandemic set to end at the end of the month, a resolution establishing a written policy on virtual participation by Danville Town Council members was introduced.

Counsel Chou-il Lee suggested considering such a policy during non-emergency situations. After discussion about the points listed in the resolution, it was the consensus to table the matter.

Kevin Hill, the insurance representative for the Town, informed them that he was taking a new position and would no longer be the representative. He introduced Bill Whalen, who would be taking over the position.

Resolution 11-2021 and Ordinance 9-2021, concerning the fiscal plan and annexation of property at 589 S. CR 75 W were approved.

Ordinance 13-2021, establishing a fund to receive distribution of the federal America Recovery Plan, was approved.

Ordinance 15-2021, regulating off-road vehicles within Town limits was tabled.

Resolution 16-2021 was approved, for disposal of items from the Clerk-Treasurer’s office that are outdated and have no value or use.

First readings were introduced for Ordinance 16-2021, requesting annexation of property on CR 300 E by Lennar Homes and for Ordinance 19-2021 for annexation of property at 306 Lawton Ave.

An expenditure request from the Water Department was approved for $15,789 to drill a test well in the area of 671 E. Main St.
