Academic Achievements -Launching a new department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in Saudi Arabia was a challenge. I succeeded in building the department study programs and recruiting its academic staff. I used my previous education background and experiences in designing a work based B.Sc. programs .

I trained academic staff on active learning techniques. I faced a resistance to change from the staff but I succeeded to convince them by various examples and educational experiments. The departments' students were admired by the Mekka hotel managers and owners during their industry internship and meetings. Saudi Managers and owners offered to my department sophomore and junior students permanent posts, which was an indicator for the success of the study program and my philosophy in managing the department.

- Adopting Active learning in Umm Al Qura University, KSA was a useful new experience to deal with other specialities students. I have been selected to be one of the leading group (only 18 selected academic staff members out of 400) who will lead the adoption of active learning techniques in Umm Al Qura University, KSA. I participated in training other staff, teaching active learning modules for Prep. year students to change their mind sets into active learning mode.

Synopses of PhD, M.Sc. and M.Sc. Synopsis of the PhD research: Electronic Distribution Channels (EDCs) were first used by hotels in the 1980s. Since that date their usage has been ongoing with new channels being continuously developed. Nowadays EDCs are of critical importance in hotel marketing. There is a rich EDC literature, including a number of case studies, for affiliated hotels but little about non-affiliated hotels. This research developed a comparative case study of EDC exploitation in affiliated and non-affiliated hotels. For increasing the research validity and to enrich its results, a series of interviews were held with key international experts and major distribution companies’ managers. The results of the comparative case study and the interviewees’ point of views helped to develop a systematic strategy for EDC management and a rich EDC performance Evaluation toolkit.

Synopsis of M.Sc. Tourism Management, Education and Training dissertation: The researcher tried to evaluate El-Kanater El-Khairia’s tourism development plan. The plan was edited for increasing its validity for rejuvenating El-Kanater El-Khairia to attract new tourist segments.

Synopsis of M.Sc. Hotel Management thesis: The Research aimed to explore the current service provided in Egypt and provide a list of recommendations to develop these services after comparing these services against what offered in other countries. Assessment was made through a series of interviews. This was followed by undertaking comparative case studies between Egyptian hospitality services provided in safari areas and hospitality services provided in international safari areas. Those case studies’ findings assisted in recommending a list of needed actions for developing those services in Egypt.
