New sport kicks off in Helston AN EXCITING new sports craze sweeping the nation has officially kicked off in Helston. FootGolf swung into action at the Wheal Dream in Wendron on Saturday and combines the two popular sports of football and golf. Course owner and former Premiership rugby player Neil Clark said he was “amazed” by the amount of interest already shown in the sport. Last weekend the venue held an open day and invited local students and football players to play a round of the unique new game. Mr Clark said: “The launch went fantastically, we had an
overwhelming response and everyone thought it was great fun.” The Wheal Dream multi-sports venue offers experienced and beginner golfers nine holes of traditional short course golf alongside a relaxed family restaurant. Course manager Jim Spratt said: “Golf will always be our core business but sadly it’s not as popular as it has been in previous years with fewer younger people taking it up. FootGolf will really breathe new life into our business and draw new people into the sport.” One early review on Facebook said: “Six of us tried the
