Meet the Artist season begins at gallery THE CUSTOMS HOUSE Gallery in Porthleven will host an exhibition by local landscape and seascape artist Andrew Barrowman next month, with opportunity with an opportunity to see the talented painter in action.

The exhibition takes place from April 12 to 18 from 10.30am to 5pm, and visitors can meet the artist at the gallery on April 16 and 17.

Speaking of his work, Mr Barrowman said: “I love working outdoors when I get the opportunity. Painting by the sea, I often come home tasting the salt on my lips from the spray thrown into the air as the waves crash against the rocks. Painting inland I usually come home covered in mud or scratched by brambles after tumbling over with all my painting gear, and the dog in hand.”

Pop in for free consultation Animal sanctuary seeks trustees AN ANIMAL sanctuary providing care for injured, abused and neglected horses, ponies and donkeys is looking to recruit new charity trustees.

Bolenowe Animal Sanctuary, based at Bonaventure Farm in Ruan Minor, is seeking trustees to join their board as enthusiastic advocates of the organisation.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We are looking for trustees with experience in equine,

retail or administration. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference to the animals in our care and ensuring the charity moves forward in a positive and compliant manner. A passion for animals or horses is helpful but not essential.”

Barber shop offers haircuts for charity A BARBER SHOP in Helston is preparing to sharpen its scissors and oil its clippers for a day of haircuts in aid of charity.

Kingsman Barbers at Coinagehall Street is inviting people to pop along for a trim between 9am and 5pm on April 14 in support of Children’s Hospice South West.

A minimum donation of £5 per haircut is requested with all proceeds going to the charity.

Portuguese pianist returns to The Poly

A YOUNG and talented virtuoso pianist is set to return to The Poly in Falmouth for a special lunchtime recital next weekend.

Marcelo Montes hails from Tavira, a small city on Portugal’s Algarve coast, and will perform a repertoire of pieces by Bach, Chopin and Rachmaninoff as well as some of his own compositions.

In 2017, the musician played to a full house at the venue and received a standing ovation.

Hyundai Motor celebrates launch of New Tucson N Line with unique art project HYUNDAI Motor is offering customers a growing range of attractive N choices. With the launch of the New Tucson N Line, they’ll be able to drive the brand’s first SUV with the sporty N look and feel. To mark the occasion, Hyundai enlisted German artist Andreas Preis to create the ‘Drive A Statement’ Project Tucson, a unique illustration on a New Tucson N Line.

The New Tucson N Line combines the popular design, safety and comfort of Tucson with the motorsport-inspired dynamic styling and attitude of N Line. With its sportier, aggressive design elements, the model is aimed at people who want to “drive a statement” that is sophisticated, yet bold.

For this special occasion, Hyundai chose to work with Andreas Preis as he is renowned for his multi-faceted works of art. He specialises in illustration, murals and live paintings and likes to draw and paint portraits of abstract shapes and ornaments through a range of different

mediums including paper, canvas, walls and wood.

Hyundai asked Preis to create a truly eye-catching design that turns the New Tucson N Line into a real statement, while emphasising the car’s new features.

It is inspired by Hyundai N’s heritage, and takes many cues from motorsport, with references to corners, chicanes, curbs and chequered flags, as well as the livery of Hyundai’s i20 Coupe WRC and i30 N TCR models. The visual elements and lines also create a dynamic, fast look, especially along the sides of the car.

“I was very excited to be asked by Hyundai to create an illustration on a New Tucson N Line. It is not every day you get to create an art work where a complete car is the canvas. With this project, I was able to turn the car into a statement of my own,” says Andreas Preis, artist and creator of the ‘Drive A Statement’ Project Tucson. Rally ace Catie Munnings flies Peugeot Rally Academy flag for 2019 ERC Junior Campaign Catie Munnings will fly the flag as a PEUGEOT UK Ambassador at the 2019 European Rally Championship (ERC) Junior Championship in 2019.

Joining the PEUGEOT Rally Academy for 2019, 21-year-old Munnings has her sights set on the ERC3 category front-wheel drive competition, hoping to emulate past success. In 2016 Catie Munnings became the first Briton to win a European Rally title in almost 50 years after taking the Ladies European Rally Championship title, in her first competitive year in the sport.

A natural in her field, Catie will be joined by new co-driver Veronica Engan for the campaign that lasts from March through to October, beginning with the first round in the Azores on Thursday 21st March.

The 2019 European Rally Championship takes drivers across a range of technical and challenging terrains, from gravel tracks to tarmac roads in The Azores, Latvia, Rome and then finishing in Hungary.

Munnings has already attracted

the attention of some big names in motorsport, entering the PEUGEOT Rally Academy as a customer with Saintéloc Racing, and having the backing of Red Bull.

Aside from building a profile on the track, Munnings has broadened her fan base as a children’s TV presenter with her very own CBeebies drive show, ‘Catie’s Amazing Machines’.

Catie Munnings is one of several promising names in the sport to be working closely with PEUGEOT in 2019 as the brand renews its partnership with last year’s 208 Rally Cup winner; Yohan Rossel. Yohan, and his co-driver Benoît Fulcrand, will be Catie Munnings’s teammates in entering the European Rally Championship and the FIA ERC3 with the PEUGEOT Rally Academy.

Helston FC A lost 6-3 against rivals Wendron CC A in Division 1 of the West Cornwall Winter Pool League last week but those three points guaranteed the title for the Football Club with a week to go.

Godolphin Club A are looking favourites for third spot after a 6-3 win over Helston FC D, but Godolphin Club C’s recent good form have put them in with a chance of third.

Division 2 is also settled, Lizard FC D have won the Division 4, Division 3 and now the Division 2 title defeating Paris Hotel A 8-1 last week. The Rodney Inn lost 5-4 against Helston RFC D but are guaranteed second spot while Hel-

ston RFC Swans slim hopes of second spot suffered after 6-3 defeats against Lion & Lamb and Red Lion A in a rearranged game.

The Wheel Inn need three points to guarantee the Division 3 title, an 8-1 win against Godolphin Club Pirates really putting them in the driving seat but the BellEnders have had a great recent run and a 5-4 win against the Potters Bar which has given them a chance of top.
