Two Helston pubs sold at auction Two pubs in Helston town centre have attracted strong interest before selling through Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers. Rileys Bar in Coinagehall Street and the Red Lion in Red Lion in Church Street were among the West Country lots listed for sale at the recent auction. A bidding war broke out for Rileys which smashed the lower estimate of its freehold guide price by £41,000 to sell for £141,000. A buyer was so keen to acquire the former Red Lion in Church Street that they made an offer prior to auction and a
price was accepted before the sale. Katie Semmens, senior auction valuer, said: “There was keen interest in both of these properties which was demonstrated in their sale prices. “The new owners of these pubs have the opportunity to breathe new commercial, licensed or otherwise, life into the premises or follow a residential scheme subject to the necessary consents or a combination of both. “Either way, it is good to see two well-known character buildings in the town face a promising future under new ownership.”
