Rhinoceros are a critically endangered species with only 28,000 rhinos left in the world compared to over 100,000 as recently as the 1950's. Human activity has caused a dramatic decline in rhino numbers with very few surviving outside national parks and reserves owing to the persistent threat of poaching and habitat loss.
Since its formation in 2012, Helping Rhinos has had a significant impact in the world of rhino conservation, raising close to £4m to protect the rhino within our areas of operation and expand their natural habitat
However, poaching remains a daily threat and maintaining viable rhino populations that have the freedom to
roam in their natural habitat is a constant challenge
Our mission over the next five years, with the help of our Rhino Guardians, is to significantly expand our areas of operation in Africa through the creation of Rhino Strongholds.
With your help we can support the expansion of natural habitats for wildlife, providing secure, sustainable and healthy eco-systems which are rich in biodiversity.
Our goal is for generations of rhino to thrive in wild spaces while simultaneously contributing to socioeconomic stability within local communities.
Rhino Guardians commit to making a generous annual donation to Helping Rhinos. This regular philanthropic gift gives Helping Rhinos the financial means and security to plan for the future and to deliver our long-term vision.

Following a devastating triple poaching attack in 2012 on the Kariega Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, UK businessman Simon Jones was moved to action The heart-wrenching incident compelled Simon to take immediate action and do everything in his power to protect this species that means so much to him.
Simon founded Helping Rhinos and has devoted his life ever since to protecting this icon of the African plains and consequently becoming our ORIGINAL RHINO GUARDIAN.
One of the victims of the 2012 poaching attack on Kariega, and the only survivor, was a rhino named Thandi It is a modern day miracle that any animal could have survived the horrific injuries Thandi suffered that fateful night. But survive she did!
And not only did she survive, she is thriving. Since her attack, Thandi has given birth to 5 calves and is also a grandmother three times over We are expecting Thandi to give birth to a sixth calf in 2025.
Thandi’s story gained media coverage around the world and helped bring the realities of rhino poaching to an international audience Her strength and determination to survive, almost as though she knew she had a role to play in ensuring her species has a future on our planet, is a true inspiration to so many people working tirelessly to protect the world’s remaining rhinos And she is certainly an inspiration to everyone at Helping Rhinos.
Since it’s formation in 2012, Helping Rhinos has had a significant impact in the protection of rhino. Some of th r work include:
Rescueof RhinoOrphans Anti-poaching Patrols Aerial Surveillance
